Also Toronto isn't paying to get rid of Klingberg. Word is he is headed to LTIR so Tor won't need to pay a dime to get rid of him. Also I calling the deal if it happens with Tor Abruzzese, Nick + 3rd for Zadorov, Nikita @ 50%.

If only Calgary made a trade like that before with a team....hmm can't put my finger on it, but I'm sure the dman was Dion and the team he went to was Tor...hmm
Wonder if they would do that again....

Unloading Campbell
I don't wanna throw shade, but if Edm made that Campbell trade I might die of laughter!! Cause Edm must have short term memory loss if they are gonna trade for a goalie that Toronto just paid to unload prior to last year lol. The irony of paying to get a goalie that recent got traded due to the same reasons!! Might as well keep the 1st and start the rebuild by trading Connor and Leon!!

You can all see Wilson has 1 year left on his deal as well right?
Also Leafs say no. I like Wilson and what he brings and he is the type of player I would want on the Leafs but not for the only Leafs player that actually shows up when it counts in the playoffs.
Only two players that are moving if I were GM are 16, 91.

Brian Burke Returns
Brain Burke would not make this trade he'd bring in someone like Matt Dumba. Truculent is the word he uses, and Keller is many great things but he's not that! Burke would actually be a great fit for this team. He's a better GM when he has the team and only need to push them over the top. Not so good when starting from nothing!

Almost feels like the only thing better then beating the Leafs would be playing for them :P
Though WPG and TOR has the CGY and TOR feel from 92. There could be a big deal and something both team would want from the other to fix their teams issues.

Thinking Big
Leafs gotta hope that with AZI news today may cause some of the NCAA players to play out there college term in order to free themselves to sign where they want and away from that mess. IE Logan Cooley and former teammate of Knies. Maybe there is a future (wishful thinking) where he signs with the Leafs because of that connection. It would be a steal kind of like Fox going to NYR. (After refusing to sign with Cgy or Car.) Or more recently Vessey signing with NYR instead of Buffalo who drafted him.
Either way getting talented young players is a pipe dream without giving something of value in return. Also Byfield doesn't fill the need Toronto has atm, and neither of the two players going to LA fill their need. They would need a Nylander or someone who could put the puck into the net.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Going to need you to think bigger if you think that will get Byfield, and if that's all Gavrikov and ROR wanted they'd be signed already.</div></div>
Dudas contract talks might be stalling a few things on resigning players, but you are are ultimately right. All news coming out suggest ROR wants to test the FA market, so makes me believe he thinks he's worth north of 4m/yr.
Hoping the Leafs bring back at least Schenn, and Acciari.

Monster deal for 1
MTL would need to include one of Slafkovsky, Coulfield, Suzuki, if not two plus everything else you had. When Lindros held out, Quebec got Steve Duchesne, Peter Forsberg, Ron Hextall, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Chris Simon, Phil's 1st in 93 (Jocelyn Thibault) + 94 (traded to NYI they used it on Brett Lindros) and 15m in cash.

I mean the Leafs should add Nylander to even out this trade...
or do what the Leafs could have done in the 80's and buy the oilers and take all their good players and discard the rest. Too bad Ballard was a cheap guy(cant swear) or Leafs might of won a cup or 8 lol

What I think an extension for Matthews and Nylander would look like
If Matthews is in it for the money he'll sign a 2yr deal avv of 13-13.5m/yr so he can resign at 15-16m/yr when the cap goes up 5-10m in the next couple of years. If he really wants to win he'll lock in for 8yrs for what he is making now or roughly close too.
Nylander is probably looking at 9m a year. I doubt Dudas or his replacement is gonna want 4x 10m players lol
I know something will happen this summer, but my money is on trying to move JT somehow or players like Brodie, Murray to open up another 10m in cap space.

Leafs shuffle
Everyone is forgetting one thing! The Ovie in the room...as along as he is a G8 is chasing 99's record they may make a move to help him do that. Granted its a bit of an overpayment on Washington's part, but not by much if you have Marner feeding Ovie for the rest of his career. It might be worth it to Washington and Ovie to hold that record. (Even the 8oa pick in a deep draft year)
For me I would be using MM to try and pry Cooley and/or Guthier from Azi if I am moving on from MM.

I'm talking strictly potential after almost stealing the series for Dallas in the first round. You're right he needs to follow it up for a strong regular season next year and continue his strong playoffs this year with another strong run to seal that comparison, but he was a high draft pick (1st 26th OV), so laying that type of comparison isn't as far fetched as people might think.

Possible Moves
The Leafs aren't just dumping Mrazek, they are also getting a very young and very good Center for that 1st. If I was Toronto I'd try to hold onto the First, but since we don't having our 2nd's or 3rd's maybe we can ask for a 3rd or two 4th's as well? That would make that deal a little easier for everyone.

Leafs 22-23 starting roster
Canes don't need Toronto's spare parts. Everyone in the league knows Holl can play, but needs a great partner to mask his short comings. As for Mrazek, I think a team trying to tank may look at him as a very good option lol. (Might not need to sweeten anything if you find the right team)

The Dallas trade is interesting (from Toronto's PoV). I don't think Dallas would make it for a number of different reason (Teams aren't in the market of giving away the next Carey Price)

Only the leafs have to add a 1st to unload one year of Ritche @2.5m lol I love how Leafs are the only trade on this site that need to anti up a 1st to unload dead weight or not paying enough for other teams bad situations.
