If Tkuchuk is Available

Created by: LetsGoPens69
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 7, 2021
Published: Jul. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don’t know if Sid would be a fan of trading Guentzel; The one wing he has had the most chemistry with in his career. Well maybe besides Kunitz.

But if Matt Tkuchuk is available the Pens should definitely go for it and give Sid/Geno/Letang the best possible chance to win another Cup.

By the way, I highly doubt Vegas moves MAF after a Vezina winning season. I know, I know, they have 12.5M in cap dedicated to goalies next season. It’s not ideal. But I just can’t see them giving up the luxury of 2 talented starting goalies able to switch on and off, playing the hot hand.

Flames fan disagree but that's too much to give up for two years of Tkachuk, especially next season when his qualifying offer is 9m. Leafs keep 2m X 2 Holl and his 20 minutes a night instead of one iffy back up goalie.

I disagree with the “iffy” back-up goalie.

Maybe one year of DeSmith and a 7th isn’t equivalent to Holl. A stay at home Defensive D-man. But disagree about the “iffy”part. He was a back-up goalie/1B goalie on a division winning/play-off team last season.

And he would have value to the Leafs. Especially for the price and for the Leafs who are up against the cap with alot of UFA’s that need signing and raises.

He’s a very capable, proven, NHL back-up-1B goalie. Look at his stats. As good as Freddy’s. And DeSmith is on a good contract.

DeSmith 2.62 GAA and .916 SV% for his career
F.Anderson2.65 GAA and .915 SV% for his career.

I actually hope the Pens keep him and just run with Jarry and DeSmith again.

The organization seems set on signing a vet back-up/1B goalie though. I don’t think they are gonna get much better than DeSmith though. Especially for the price.

Raask, Ullmark, Driedger are better. Freddy and J.Bernier...But at what price?? And maybe Mrazek??DeSmith is a better option than every other FA goalie available, other than that, in my opinion.

You see there is a problem with your argument and it just assumes Tkachuk will only sign a 1 year deal. You do realize he has to sign somewhere right? You make the exact same claim every time and use it for every team acquiring him

I mean, where there is smoke there is fire.

An organization can’t exactly out their best young player. I just don’t see how Calgary turns it around. Or resigns a core group under the flat cap. Markstrom just got a big deal. They probably won’t be able to resign Johnny G.

I don’t know, I havnt really looked at it too closely.

But from all the reading, and articles, that I agree with u, are mostly just “ideas” with no quotes from the organization or Tkuchuk or Tkuchuk’s people.

But Calargy trading Tkuchuk does make sense in some sorts.

That’s crazy. Tkuchuk is a big, physical, playmaker and scorer, good 200-foot-2-way player, cornerstone of the franchise. And only 23 years old.

We've been over this before, 1 person claimed he was, everyone denied it including Tkachuk, the org, the teams best insiders, and even Elliotte Friedman.

Gio's caphit comes off the books next year, they can easily pay for both Johnny and Tkachuk with it

I said I agree with u. Obviously I didn’t read my post.

You way too defensive and close to the situation. U can’t see the forest through the trees. U refuse to acknowledge anything being a possibility. It’s not even worth the breath.

Yep. And all "homers" on every team, think their stars are going to stay with their team till retirement. But of course the same homers think they can acquire other team UFA.
I will hold firm to my argument. Next June when Tkachuk hasn't signed a long term contract, and is one year away from UFA, what is his trade value going to be? Don't like my belief on the Tkachuk? I find no logic in believing he wants to a Flame for the rest of career, especially since he will have options. Time will tell.

Of course Tkachuk and Flames management will deny that Tkachuk will not sign long term with the Flames. 99% of the time players and management will not throw eachother "under the bus." But geez, anyone that believes what managers, players, and agents says publicly about contracts are just foolish

Well that’s not totally fair..you’ll believe what they say if it confirms your narrative. And if it doesn’t, you’re stupid for believing it.

Although I do agree with some of your statements. That’s not totally fair

No, I find it foolish to what managers or players say in public. They certainly don't play their hand for public consumption. Should we believe public statements like. "The coach is not going to fired". " We like our team and there will be no trades". Or a player saying "I want to resign with my team" then two week later he signs elsewhere.

You arent really getting this, every Tkachuk related post you talk in you say the exact same thing "he will walk walk in 2 years" it is a very pathetic argument that contradicts itself. It's fine if you want to believe he will force his way out of Calgary but there is zero evidence supporting it so keep the hot take to yourself. The problem with your argument is even in Tkachuk trades you say it, so basically he is trying to force himself out of every organization according to you. Why would any team trading for Tkachuk do it without the expectation of resigning him? It makes no sense

No, I don't think you get it. But you are right," any team trading for Tzachuk do it without the expectation of resigning him". Since few in any teams have the expectation of resigning him, the trade value is much lower than Flames fans expect.

Why would a team trade for him and not expect to sign him for more than 1 year? Please tell me where he wants to play? Russia? Because according to you he wants to walk from every NHL team. Your logic is so flawed

C'mon man your logic is so flawed. Any hockey fan should know that Tkachuk has a 21/22 cap hit of 7m. Summer of 22/23 he is under Flame (or his new team) for one more year. That team has to qualify him for a believe 9m. Tkachuk take that for 22/23 contract and then is a UFA in the summer of 2023.
Stop with this foolish homerism that he has to sign with a Russian team. You seem to think just because Tkachuk is a Flame, he can't become a UFA in 22/23

What? Im not saying that at all. You are the only one that says he will 100% sign a 1 year deal no matter what team he's on. News flash players sign long term deals after bridge contracts all the time. This has nothing to do with homerism at all.

I gave my opinion months ago. Tkachuk is not going to sign long term with the Flames. Other people disagree with me, that' OK. But I seem to be told my opinion isn't valid. Sorry my opinion is defendable even though I admit Tkachuk can sign a long term deal before he reaches UFA. So many Flames think he just can't be a UFA in 2023. Those fans are the homers I'm talking about,.
Regarding the trade posted. For the Pens to give up a comparable productive Guentzel and the their best prospect and a first, to me is poor deal for the Pens.

I'm not arguing whether you think he wont specifically sign with the Flames or not (even though your opinion is baseless), I'm saying you cant make the same argument for literally every team. Right here for example, why wouldn't Tkachuk sign more than 1 year with the Pens?

Well certainly the Pens have a chance of signing Tkachuk long term. Still doesn't mean I would do the trade.
Gee, we have all kind of posts in the last few hours about Tarasenko wanting out of St Louis. Haven't seen one Flame fan say, "it isn't true". But when there is rumour of Tkachuk wanting out of Calgary (at least not wanting to sign long term in Calgary, so many Flames say "it isn't true."

the Tkachuk rumor was made by a random nobody, Eklund has more credit than him, Friedman literally confirmed the Tkachuk rumor was false too.

As for the pens resigning Tkachuk part, literally the first thing you said here was "that's too much to give up for two years of Tkachuk" so yes you were implying Tkachuk would only sign a 1 year deal with Pittsburgh
