Playoff Push

Created by: KPasty
Team: 2016-17 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 6, 2017
Published: Feb. 6, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Calgary gets a goalie at a relatively inexpensive price. Pittsburgh gets a solid veteran netminder for the playoffs.

Sharp can be that veteran guy who can slot from line 1-3 and has the experience of 3 cups. His value based off this year should be relatively low. Pouliot and a pair of 3rd round picks should do it I would think. Dallas could use the defensive prospect.

Finally seidenberg is a dirt cheap option for a future 3rd round pick and another prospect in Percy.

Is this good value? And do you think this helps Pittsburgh in the playoffs?

You could probably get Seidenberg for some signed Crosby pucks. As an Islanders fan that is a gross overpay. A 5th probably does it.

Change made, wasn't exactly sure on his value. Hard to judge sometimes when it's picks.

Moving Fleury won't be this easy . Why would the Flames want a 32 years old mediocre goalie who has posted 90.6 save % behind one of the best teams in the league, on a hefty cap hit signed for 2 more years AND on top of that send a 3rd rounder to the Pens. He's not even an upgrade over Elliott. Pens would have to be the team to add for this to work. Flames have all the leverage. It's not like anyone is licking their chops trying to get their hands on Fleury. It would be more like one of those "we'll i guess we could see what he can do" type of situations if you add something valuable to make it worth their while to give Fleury a shot.

I do not agree with Sharp or Seidenberg. Sharp would be a rental and pouliot plus 2 thirds is a no go. Also, Seidenberg is being paid 4M a year and has one more after this. That would be wasting the cap space we would get in Fleury and have no use for him when we have 6 + capable defenseman.

He's not tho. I'm a Pens fan, and even I see that Fleury has next to no trade value right now. I think he can be moved, but we can't be expecting to get any kind of high picks or retained salary when trading him. It will likely be player for player if it is done, maybe some lower round picks or slight draft movement involved.
