A Galvanized Bergevin

Notes on the trades/signings:
Keep in mind the Habs would only get Gaudreau for one year and Calgary isn't retaining any salary.

I hope after this year's playoffs people realize that Paul Byron is more than just a cap dump, and that he has a lot of value and I'm practically gifting him to Detroit so I can get under the cap.

I liked what I saw from Martinez in the Vegas series. He's mobile and he lives for those big moments. Hell, he scored the cup winner for LA in 2014. Should be a beast for the Habs in the playoffs and an asset on the power play. He'd look good next to Shea Weber.

Shipping off Byron opened up a spot on the fourth line and I thought a relatively young Caggiula at a low price would look good on that left side.

Once again Paul Byron isn't a piece that Yzerman would go after, And Byron at $3,400,000 for 2 more years would cost at least 2 3rd round picks one for each year of the contract.

Everything about this (trade each signing are brutal)
That would be Bergevin worse offseason and that beats the 2016 offseason (Alzner signing, Drouin vs Sergachev, not resigning Radulov Markov, trading Beaulieu and losing Emelin to Vegas)

Dear valued member of the peanut gallery,

Thank you for your insightful feedback. The level of detail is most impressive. I only read the second line of your comment, but considering how much detail went into recalling Bergevin's worst offseason, I can only imagine the comprehensiveness with which you analyzed my take on this offseason.

I look forward to hearing more of your respectful and methodical critiques in the future.

Cheers,
Bo_Knows

Wings aren't taking on 7M salary over two years on a player they don't want or need for a measly 3rd

At the beginning I wanted to put some clowns emoji but I had a feeling you’re were, eum how can I say that gently, special ? So I did 4 full sentences (which is a lot from me). But yeah, brutal offseason you just made here

He's got one year left and he wants out. It's difficult for Treliving to max out value in this situation. Guhle is legit y'all would love him. Future top-4 dman right there. Armia adds a level of speed and physicality to the middle six that many teams sorely lack so Calgary would be lucky to have him. Just ask Winnipeg.

Dear valued member of the peanut gallery,

Thank you for the diagnosis. All that detailed, professional psychoanalysis must be hard work. Why don't you take a break and watch a movie or something? I know I will. I'll be watching Martin Scorcese's The Wolf of Wall Street. How about you?

Where did you get the idea he wants out? Was it from the closing season statement where he said "Yeah I would love to sign an extension this summer"

Also Armia doesn't add speed, he is a rather slow skater

I’m not sure where you’ve seen that Gaudreau wants out. Besides that interview he did three years ago where he said “who doesn’t dream about playing in their hometown,” he hasn’t even come close to hinting about wanting to leave. It’s all just speculation. If Treliving trades Gaudreau, it’s not going to be to make the team worse now and better later — it’s going to be for a different top 6 forward plus another piece that can be slotted somewhere in the lineup.
