While I do think Ghost is on his way out, I think people are overblowing the waivers thing which is more about COVID as the Flyers were calling people up at the time and needed some room. Similar to Byron I would say. But I do think he gets traded for less than what you'd want, though I doubt its a 7th D, AHL D and a 5th.

Fair enough but it doesn’t look good if teams could’ve had him for free and didn’t take him. I’m a big fan of his, always have been. If the Isles had the cap last year I would’ve liked to see them pick him up. I would go up to a 3rd or 4th but I don’t see an NHL level player going the other way unless its someone overpaid like Subban and salary retention is involved

Going off the NYR Staal trade which was a second and he had almost double salary that Komarov has hence why I said a 3rd. If adding Aho its just him. Not getting Komarov Aho and a pick

Well NSH would have no interest in that. Eberle doesn't make sense for that team and the prospects are not that inspiring either. Seems like a rather generic offer for NSH's best offensive forward, retained. Preds pass.

Yeah but isles are in a cap crunch and it's a flat cap and people have to protect against expansion. Lots of other factors right now. 3rd + aho or 2nd is fair

Yeah, I get that he was "free" but I think my point stands. If you're a competing team like the Islanders, do you have 4.5 million for 3 more years laying around without any money going out? But I do agree it won't be a great return if he is the main piece. I'd take a 2nd if it was offered probably, as much as I like him.

keep in mind that waivers are only 24 hours. so if someone did want Ghost and had to make some room to make it work; they didn't have any time as they would have thrown someone on waivers or sent someone to the minors themselves. Like bluspy said; it was paper to move to free up some cap space for us to have some wiggle room with call-ups.

If he were really that bad; after clearing we would have sent him to Lehigh Valley. Instead he dressed the vast majority of the rest of the season for us,

Staal had a salary of 3.2 million (his bonus was already paid) and he played in a position where Detroit needed help, Komarov doesn't.

A 2nd or a prospect like Holmström and we'll likely accept.
