Not getting enough Value for Marner. So many better trades out there than this if they were to love him. Plus it leaves your second line weak as hell. If you are going to make that move it has to have a first coming back. Then you don’t sign Nash and use the over pay there coupled with the Galchenyuk dollars and sign Granlund. Much better option in your top 6. This team would be lucky to make the playoffs

So many "why not" reasons.
Not even close to enough value for Marner
Unless Trotz and his system are coming over niether Leddy or Varlamov will have any success in TO
Leafs require a back up for Campbell not a starter to make Campbell the back up

That's probably a no from Seattle unless they have an extension in place for Reilly. If they extend him, it's definitely interesting so you might be onto something.

If Seattle picks up a later 1st round pick in a trade from another team they may send it over for Rielly but they're not trading their 1st rounder for him.

i agree it’s not enough value for marner, but varly played a lot of great seasons in colorado without trotz. he had his best season prior to this one in 2013-14, long before he worked with mitch korn. he definitely can be successful elsewhere, although i don’t know why toronto would want him unless they’re trying to make campbell a 1B/backup.

Mostly the trade makes no sense for TO, if TO is looking to move Marner the bulk off the package would be high picks and step in ready prospects (cupboards are bare at this time). They won't be filling the cap space with aging vets at 5 million on the contract (Leddy) and an unnecessary goalie at 5 million (Varlamov)
