Um theres a lot of new mistakes here. Signing montour for starters. Trading yandle and picks for kessel??? Do you miss jagr and trying to substitute? Not to mention yandle back to arizona...is just wierd.

It’s a fair trade and makes a lot of sense, although I guess it depends on whether Yandle is willing to waive his no-movement clause to go back to Arizona or not.

Anyways, welcome to CapFriendly! Always nice to see more Panthers fans around.

I’m not crazy about Kessel. But it is my solution to move Yandle and be able to protect Forsling. If Kessel doesn’t work out you can just release him. He is in the last year of his contract and already got his bonus. He’s owed less than $1M in cash. That money part is the reason for swapping picks 2 for 1. As for the picks, the 1st for a 2nd is bad but not as terrible as it sounds. For a change our 1st pick is late in the round, and the CBJ 2nd rounder is at 36 so you move down 13 spots. I’m ok with not signing Mountour and using that money on another UFA D. It was done more to just fill out the D with a familiar name. Would like to keep Duclair but the Yandle/Kessel deal swaps NMCs. I just want to be rid of Yandle and not lose Forsling. I’m looking to the future to clear cap for Barkov after this season. And room the season after that for Huberdeau, and probably significant increases for Verhaeghe and Weegar,

Idk if Yandle would waive to go back to Arizona but what's his actual cost in real dollars to the Coyotes?

Think that alone would make this an easy decline for Arizona then but idk.

Well it is a first round pick. And if the trade is made before the bonuses are due, they’re also saving $5.1 million in trading Kessel. Although the ownership is really terrible there, so who knows?

I thought the bonuses had already been paid, on the normal 7/1 date. That is why I had a 1st round pick included. If the trade is before the bonuses are paid, I don’t give up the 1st rounder.

Makes sense. I’m not sure whether the bonuses are paid on the normal day, or whether they’re shifted since free agency is later this year, which is why I mentioned it.
