Didn't Stone have 1 year left when he was traded?
Eichel has 5
Yea @10 mil per.... less than 10 teams league wide can take the hit and not all of them are in the bidding.
His 5 years and 50 mil is just a smaller issue than his neck and attitude.
For instance in NY, it poses big issues resigning Zib, Fox, Miller, Kakko, Shesterkin, with Panarins 11+ mil hit. I'm sure other clubs have same issue, cap space marked for young players of their own.
Buffalo is a day late and dollar short. They should have pushed the issue last offseason. With healthy Eichel, a bidding war would have been there and their high ask could have been met.
No longer.
Overall, the scope of this trade is too much for most to comprehend, it's not EA NHL 21... or fantasy hockey swapping point producers.
Sorry but another minus to the situation is how far less talented teams advanced in playoffs. I know most of us enjoyed watching TML gut themselves and lose a 3-1 lead to the challenged Montreal team. But who really sees the Eichel , we have seen so far, making a huge difference when it counts in best of 7s.? And I should gut my prospect pool and possibly damage my cap situation all hoping he comes back BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE.
