Jack and Gabe

Created by: OldSenileGuy
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 14, 2021
Published: Jul. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't really think they're gonna go after both Jack & Gabe, but wanted to see what it would look like. Obviously this would mean losing Mika and probably Strome at the end of the season, but it would be a fun, lone "go for it" season.

8.5M for a 3rd line center is a great investment

Landeskog hasn't played center in ages, And you're not getting Jack Eichel for that package. Blake Coleman gets far more $$ and term. And you don't even have the allowance for you bonus coverage.

At this point THAT OFFER would be the high water mark.
You're right, they would get Eichel for less.

Signing Landeskog means major subtractions in just next 2 years.
Zib, Fox, Kakko, Miller all need new deals.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE TO SIGN LANDESKOG to anything more than a one year go for the Cup deal.
Which isnt happening either.

A lot of people think eichel is pulling Laffy, fox and kakko with 4 1sts, but they need a dose of reality, Buffalo is not getting a top prospect unless they retain salary, the offer this post made is the max they would get, you are 100% correct sir

It is asinine to think that your fifth best prospect and some throw-ins are good enough to get a player Eichel's caliber. Yes, he is injured, but you're acting as if he is the first player that has ever been injured.

It's not asinine man, there is a reason only a few teams can take on eichel, its the cap and his 10mill with his injury and the fact he wants out! that combination of things drive down his value 5x because it's a organization crusher if u get it wrong. Eichel is a great player, no denying that, but its such a complicated situation that to assume an organization is gonna hand over a lafienre or Byfield or zegras + for that type of risk is not gonna happen. I just don't see it honestly, for buffalo's sake i hope they are made whole, but its gonna take a miracle

While we may not get 1 of the 3 you named (among the best prospects in the league), we will be getting more than this offer. If this was the best we get, it’s more likely we hold onto Eichel into at least mid season till we prove he’s healthy.

That's definitely a possibility but I think he is getting dealt in the next couple weeks before the draft.

I can confidently say that most Sabres fans and those in the media realize that the return for Eichel wouldn't be as high as it would be if he was completely healthy, but other fan bases (not putting the takes of Ducks, Kings, Wild, etc. fans on you) need to realize that he is still an elite player and to get those guys you have to give up something. I will admit when all of this drama of him getting moved started, I was expecting Lafrenierre, Byfield, Zegras, etc. as the main pieces to be included, but that has certainly changed as of late. The Sabres simply won't move him if the return isn't there.

I think they're determined to not repeat the O'Reilly trade where they just took a bunch of pieces that really had no value. I also don't think the "Sabres are looking for the equivalent of four firsts" thing is true either, but I think there will be a first involved, an A prospect, B prospect, and most likely a roster player to make the cap work. I'm sure Buffalo can add things to get perhaps two A prospects (perhaps Turcotte and Vilardi in LA or Rossi and Boldy in MIN), but it also depends for teams that are win-now. The Ducks aren't so giving up Zegras doesn't make sense, but the Kings think their window is still open and they have a great pipeline, so they may be more willing to send guys like Vilardi and Kayilev and still have Turcotte and Byfield. Again, the medical stuff is important, but the Sabres won't just give up Eichel because he wants out and what he makes. Guys like him don't become available all that often and there is no guarantee any of these prospects develop as they are projected or draft pick status indicates.

Yea I just remember 26 yr old M Stone, better all around player, PROVEN.
ONLY got LD Brannstom, C Oscar Lindberg and a 2nd.
Buffalo fans are going to cry n whine when they see the final get for Eichel.
Sorry but without a bidding war... they will be picking from teams 2nd and 3rd best offers.
Because Jack IS NOT STAYING ANOTHER YEAR.
He doesnt want it nor does Buffalo.
They will get rough equivalent to 3 1sts, a cap dump and a B+ prospect.
Unless they are eating some salary.

Didn't Stone have 1 year left when he was traded?

Eichel has 5

Yea @10 mil per.... less than 10 teams league wide can take the hit and not all of them are in the bidding.
His 5 years and 50 mil is just a smaller issue than his neck and attitude.
For instance in NY, it poses big issues resigning Zib, Fox, Miller, Kakko, Shesterkin, with Panarins 11+ mil hit. I'm sure other clubs have same issue, cap space marked for young players of their own.
Buffalo is a day late and dollar short. They should have pushed the issue last offseason. With healthy Eichel, a bidding war would have been there and their high ask could have been met.
No longer.

Overall, the scope of this trade is too much for most to comprehend, it's not EA NHL 21... or fantasy hockey swapping point producers.

Sorry but another minus to the situation is how far less talented teams advanced in playoffs. I know most of us enjoyed watching TML gut themselves and lose a 3-1 lead to the challenged Montreal team. But who really sees the Eichel , we have seen so far, making a huge difference when it counts in best of 7s.? And I should gut my prospect pool and possibly damage my cap situation all hoping he comes back BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE.

The expansion draft also comes into play also, I agree with all of this 👌
