  1. Neal, James
Additional Details:
Johnson was on waivers and cleared twice. Tampa is way over the cap. Neil is only good on the pp but has one less year and is only 1.9 m on a buy out. Way less than Johnson. Edm gains a third line right shot Center who knows Yamamoto. Yam is better suited for a third line which suddenly gives Edm secondary scoring without dead cap.

Expansion draft. A 7th rounder to guarantee they take Russell over benson. Russell is a low-ish cap and the type of depth teams trade decent picks for a the deadline.

You didn't really give Arizona anything of value (this package probably has negative value and got a top 6 winger (albeit a little pricy) and a starting goalie.

The only thing better with Neal is a shorter term to the buyout but Johnson has less negative value for them to be able to trade that contract. The way the buyout works Tampa only has a $1mil buyout in year 1, then it jumps to $2,8mil for year 2, before dropping back to $1.8 and $1.5 for the remainder. I think you'd have better luck sending them Kassian since his contract is same term as Johnson but $1.8mil less per year. Johnson is much better than Kassian but depends how much value that cap space has to Tampa or if they'd rather just part with other assets to make the space.

    1. Arizona declines. It will cost more than marody and rodrigue to move koskinen and kassian let alone get anything back.
    2. Tampa declines. After the playoffs that he had, johnson isnt going to be so hard to move. Yes it will cost some, but less than it would to move neal imo. Tampa cant afford 1.9 in dead cap.

Why did you buyout Turris? Couldn’t you just burry him?

Originally had him buried but the buy out brought a little more cap room for flexibility at the deadline as I was right against it.
