One one hand it's confusing. On another one if we want to keep kerfoot for a trade or just to have him play. Hallander and a 7th is much cheaper then what Seattle is asking for to pick someone else

Not worried at all. Like what Steve Dangle mentioned in his podcast, Dubas can either be right or fired. This is his last chance to make the team he believes will contend for a cup

As a Leafs fan, I would really hope to see the Leafs lose McCann for nothing. What an upgrade he would be over Kerfoot

To be honest, this whole thing can all be part of a larger deal that none of us know anything about. Some sort of 3 way deal.
Both teams TOR and PIT need cap relief. Both teams have more players than they could protect.
We'll see how it works out in the end.

It was actually a very smart move to trade for McCann and leave both him and Kerfoot unprotected. Think of it as a 3rd line Center insurance policy. A prospect and late pick to guarantee that we go Into the off-season with at least one third line Center. Both Kerfoot and McCann can fill that role just fine and I’d be happy with either one. Had we not done that we would have risked trying to find a 3C in free agency or via trade.

McCann should not an option for a center. Pittsburgh tried him in their 3c, and did not work. Hes a much better winger

Very likely that TOR has a side deal with the Kraken due to different rumors.

Dermott will be taken by the Kraken most probably. That should explain the 1.5 M AAV. He wasn't sure about his future after the signing and he is too expensive for the Leafs to be a healthy scratch and if they will not trade Rielly, the left side is fine with Sandin. With this salary Dermott would cost against the cap in the minors. THAT would be the bad deal Dubas made. The McCann Trade for me so far looks brilliant. You can not predict Hållander´s future. McCann showed what he is capable of. Led the entire league in GAR/60, and the Leafs need strong zone entries as well as the so often talked "killer instinct: watch his goals last season and the will to score. Love it. That's the type TOR don't have. Furthermore he led the Pens in PPG! Not bad to improve the questionable TOR PP.

McCann is off to Seattle, They aren't taking Dermott.
My guess is you are going to see TOR send Seattle assets for 50% retained on a defenseman......probably chosen from the penguins.

This seems a little far fetched to me unless there is something bigger in play. No way Dubas makes a deal to give up an asset to run the risk of losing the piece he brought in for free. Especially when protecting 7/3/1 would only cost Dermott or Holl. The value in the lineup of McCann and then the trade value of Kerfoot (either by way of pick replenishment or as a packaged asset) far out weighs the potentially loss of Dermott or Holl
