that hertl deal is a little ridiculous, not too mention extremely unnecessary, habs come out of that deal a much worse team, keep KK and sign a winger instead and keep all those assets including the top goalie prospect in our system.

The team is worse??? I can't disagree more. Clearly in my world the team above is WORST CASE as good as it was before the acquisitions and only cause Price isn't there. If for the next 3-6 yrs our C depth consists of Suzuki, Hertl, Krejci and Poehling... IMO we're solid. I didn't give up any picks so we have time to replenish the prospects cupboard and probably have developed a couple in time to replace Toffoli and the yr after Ovechkin. I got a taste of a cup run and I don't want to wait long to do it again.

You're probably right about KK but that's how much I like Bertuzzi. I think he's better than KK right now but KK will eventually surpass him in a few yrs. Same thing for Hertl, thats how much I believe in him. I love those prospects but I'm too impatient to wait till they reach their potential.

I could get down with something around Bert for KK.

That’s if you consider Byron as a positive asset, most don’t.

Primeau the best goalie prospect we have had since price (not as good as price of course but still) Guhle projects top 2 dman, Ylonen, Mysak Tuch Farrell all decent prospect assuming probably two never reach their potential so lets say only ylonen and tuch do, they're middle 6 guys, for Hertl whose broken 50 points once in his career, twice if you wanna factor in the production pace he was on.

Why not keep KK, sign saad as your winger and keep all those prospects, i view that as a better team then selling to farm to add to foward that do nothing to push the needle. If you wanna sell the farm go after eichel or someone that will actually make a difference. I'm fully on board with pushing for another cup run but this team above struggle to makes the playoffs still so why bother selling off so many assets.

Cause I need to give a reason for Ovechkin to sign here. And he won't sign if he sniffs "rebuild". And if Ovechkin signs and we go on a deep playoff run with him, then MTL will remain on top of the destination list of UFAs. Therefore if MTL remains appealing for UFAs, we won't have to solely rely on good drafting and developing like we've always done. I'm eyeing Patty Kane from now, i want him here in 2 yrs.

I forgot to add. You can argue that Hertl was on pace for 70pts the last 2 yrs. And the reason why he didn't sniff that up until 3 yrs ago, is cause he was behind on the C depth chart for many yrs. Pavelski, Thornton, Couture and Marleau were c*** blocking him. Eichel IMO might be an 80-90 pt guy but I think that Hertl is more complete. He plays top PP and PK units. Also if I can have him at 7.5× 6 yrs, I'll sleep well at night. I can't have Eichel at 10 mill and Suzuki 8mill. It'll be crippling the process of building around them. Obviously I believe the team above is better than our previous edition, so naturally I have to also believe they'll make the playoffs.

ya thats fair, i do think the contract for Hertl is fine, i would be hesistate to include primeau in any deal for anyone besides a goalie, especially if price is gone at the draft.

Check out Sebastien Cossa. I think MTL can nab him in the end of the 1st rnd.

he has the makings of a legit nhl goalie, i dont know if he is still there by MTL's pick, would be worth trading up for though with a package of picks

I know and it merits for his stock to be appealing but you can say he was an overager. By default he played in the USHL cause college hockey was cancelled. IMO you should consider having Tuch and Guhle slightly ahead of him. Farrell could be the real deal no doubt but I'm willing to risk it for this specific trade. SJ is stuck in no-man's land so if I give them a package that spearheads a true rebuilt then they'll take it...IMO.

Considering the limited Intel teams have on this yr's draft crop, then it'd be definetly worth moving up for this guy.
