Danault Hardline

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 19, 2021
Published: Jul. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Although I love Danault... he is our modern Carbonneau.... I don't think the habs are well served by paying him over 5M or 5.5M.

He doesn't bring enough offensively to get more. Habs always have one player with a specific defensive role (Plekanec (he got 6M after a 70 pts season I think- remember our feeling at the end of that contract), De la Rose, Eller, Malhotra).

We will find another... if the need arises. The Byron-Evans-Lekhonen can do it just fine. Suzuki is starting to be more responsible. A Nate Thompson type to play a PK role.

It's sad to say but I think Weber is done... maybe one last playoffs (kucherov style). Habs should throw all they have in Hamilton... Or our Right hand side will be hurting for a while. We have no A prospect at RHD.

No way Yzerman take back Drouin. So you're deal : Drouin (Negative value) Norlinder ( a project so like a B prospect) and a late 1st for the 6 OA. No way

Did you trade for their 6OA because it’s not a part of the trade. I doubt red wings do that though considering they can get Kent Johnson or Jesper Wallstedt

At #6 there will be plenty of good options for Detroit. Yzerman isnt doing this deal. Drouin cant play more than 30% of a season, Norlinder is is 21 and is barley getting acclimated to the SHL (so still a couple years from being in the minors) and then almost the last pick of the first round...

The best part is, very likely, the guy the Wings want when Montreal picks 31 will still be there when the Wings select 37.

No value to Detroit here. Need more to swing this.

It doesn't have to be DET, but I forgot Yzerman is there now... so fair enough, Drouin might not be a particularly good addition in this case. BUT, Drouin is still a 50+ pts player and Norlinder is more of a A prospect.

Habs need a prospect at RHD... although, if they manage to sign Hamilton... the need might not be as great.

Norlinder is playing in the AHL next year.

As the previous guy said. Norlinder is getting older and is no where near the NHL. The late first is essentially an early second which the red wings already have… Drouin probably doesn’t get 50 points antways

Norlinder isn’t an A prospect and it’s not even close. No team in the top 5/10 are trading their pick for that package.

I do like Norlinder but Drouin would have to be replaced with someone damn good for Detroit to consider it.
