That's an overpay for Danault, both in term and AAV.

He declined 5x5 from MTL so he's obviously wanting more. It's an over payment that's the price he's asking for

You give Danault $5,500,000 for a 3rd line role? Get someone else who can play on that 3rd line.

Nuge is better and cheaper. I wouldn't pay Danault that kind of money, he simply doesn't bring enough offense.

You realize he turned down 5mill x 6 right?

After his playoff performance shutting down top lines in almost every round someone is gonna fork over a tonne for him. He is one of the best shutdown centers in the NHL rn and whoever pays him is gonna have a solid guy.

Agreed. Get someone older on a cheaper contract like Getzlaf, Bozak, Staal…. 2ish MM.

Can't produce offence though. He's not worth that much even if someone pays it.
