CAPS Eichel 2022

Created by: KC11
Team: 2021-22 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2021
Published: Jul. 20, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's possible (though unlikely to get Eichel on the CAPS). Just takes Seattle to take Jensen, Schultz (I went with Jensen due to his lower age and cap hit) and a trade of Orlov to decrease cap hit while getting a solid, but lower upside D and a couple draft picks in return)

I imagine when (if) Eichel gets traded, BUF will look for younger pieces than Kuzy.

I would love it if Caps got Eichel but they just don't have the pieces to do it. Maybe McMichael+Alexeyev+Samsonov+

I don't really think the Caps will get Eichel with everyone else salavating, but let's be honest BUF back is against a wall. They don't have the leverage because everyone knows he wants out. They aren't going to get what he's worth. Kuzy may be a down grade, but still a top line center now and in the near future and they are getting a haul of prospects ('21 2nd and 3rd picks and '22 1st). Not a bad package for a team that doesn't want to be embarrassed every night and still build for the future.

Regarding Edmundson, he's nothing special. Orlov has a lot more upside. Montreal already explored a trade for Orlov, so they can't be that happy with their current D. I could see reducing the picks coming back to just one 2nd or 3rd rounder, though.

Ritzy, aren't 3 draft picks younger pieces? Do you expect someone to hand them multiple proven NHL'ers? Doubtful. They will be lucky to get a 2nd line center in return plus picks. They gotta start building for the future. They are not competitive now or for the foreseeable future.

+/- is not the best metric for the value of a player. There have been some mediocre players that were among the league leaders at times. While individual players contribute, its more of a value of the entire team and only in 5 on 5 play.

Edmunson is a stud right now and a really good top 4 d, with weber out no way they trade him. Also, being +27 while the 2nd on the team is +8 it's really that you're good defensively
