Description
This was mostly done for laughs and to see what G and Jake could land the Flyers in trade. They give up the better players now in order to get the much shorter Sedin contracts and the up and coming Horvat. I am torn on throwing in the 1st Rd Pick but shedding 2 contracts that would tie up $16 million for the next 6 and 8 years respectively has to have some value. I also think it is the only way we get Horvat and I wanted to see him on the same line as his cousin Travis Konecny.

Plus I am a sucker for solid center depth. Right now the team only has two NHL centers and a bunch of wingers who are nominally listed as centers.

That PK2 D pairing is sickening though. The prospects can't get called up fast enough.

Vancouver is sending Hextall a box of chocolates after this trade. That sets Philly back another 3-4 years, until they have another 1-2 punch like Giroux and Voracek.

That is kind of the point. By the time all of the Defenseman are up and seasoned and one of the goalie prospects pan out G, Jake, and Simmonds are well into their 30s and 2 of them will still have years left on big money contracts. Unfortunately those contracts also make them hard to flip for high end prospects. Also like I said in the notes this wasn't a serious trade. I just wanted to see what it would look like. And honestly I don't think the line up is any worse after the trade.

Realistically what is fair value for G and Jake. With those contracts and that many years left at there respective ages what could the Flyers get for them?

Honestly, I've thought about this too. Right now I'd say Giroux is absolutely untradable due to his contract unless we a looking at taking a worse player back with a similar cap hit and hoping a team gives up prospects but I don't see it happening. Maybe like Giroux for RNH and a pick because their caps are at least close but no team is going to take that 8 mil + contract on when they most likely have their 1C waiting for their pay day who is younger. Voracek is interesting because I'd still say he is a top 5-6 RW in the league. Personally, I'd put him behind Kane and Tarasenko but there are other out there that are good too. Might be able to get a lot more for Jake but it would come at the cost of getting back another bad contract or worse player (i.e. Eberle and a pick). Not really worth it to the Flyers.
