Leaning into using the cap space

Description
BOTH Hoffman and Granlund agree to the same exact move that Hoffman did last year in STL. Wait 1 single day for Shaw and Seabs to be sent to LTIR and then sign their deals on Day 2. STL did this with Steen last year.

IF Kane or someone gets hurt...thats a ton of UFA's being sent at the TDL.

This team needs D men, not more forwards. Stan screwed up with Suter just to bring these guys in? Highly unlikely.

True. Just posting a different look from all the MAF trades.

Suter is a different story to me. He wants more than what Stan thought he was worth. Stan did right by his Euro transfer and will continue to do so for future Euro transfers. Thats my take. Don't ruin the pipeline

Fair, I can't believe what is happening to this team. The sexual assault case, the Suter UFA thing. Stan has to be on the hot seat, the asset management he's shown is baffling and the handling of the case has been an utter embarrassment.

I really hope Fleury decides soon so they can move on, if they want to contend, they gotta give Grubauer a call or reach out to Dallas for Bishop (Unsure if he even has anything in the tank. Worst case option here is Holtby, who might bounce back with some better D around him, which Stan needs to work on as well.

Agreed. I made an edit before. I think Suter is a different story, but I definitely agree on direction forward. If Suter doesn't want to play for CHI...does he want to play anywhere else? I don't mind flipping him, but it's not like we lost much in the trade either. Holtby is definitely an option for $2M-$2.5M. VERY happy we didn't have to pay the $5.7M owed to him.

The Suter thing is still cranking me off today...

Grubauer is the only potential in that group you listed, Bishop has shown over time his body can't keep up. Holtby has fallen off a cliff. Stan either jumped on this decision like an ill-prepared fool and hoped for the best outcome, or he knows he;' gonna get canned and doesn't give a **** anymore. I've lost count of the messes he's accountable for right now...

I think he knows in the back of his mind that there's a real possibility Fleury retires or requests a trade to Pittsburgh he can (and likely will at this point) facilitate. I don't understand why he's jumping through so many hoops for the moves he has/hasn't made. The huge overpay for Jones financially and asset-wise, potentially having to retain on Fleury to move him to Pittsburgh, not qualifying Suter, even though Suter is better than Strome, Gaudette, and Borgstrom. I don't understand how he can screw up with this much cap space. How did Gaudette end up getting a raise? He played 7 games... I just have no words.

Gaudette I'm okay with, if he returns to better form pos-Covid, he's just the kind of bottom line guy we need. The rest is mind-bogglingly stupid, from disastrous asset management to cap ****ery.

Is Fleury retires, fair play, it all goes away. Or maybe he gets something out of trading him back to PIT. But how has he not realized that no one wants to come this organization anymore, without a massive overpayment? Not only that, he's taking a dump on that European pipeline he created himself, one of his only true feats to be accredited to him, with this Suter nonsense.

I would seriously like to strangle the man right now.

I agree Stan I'd making odd moves, but if anything he's preserving the Euro pipeline vs ruining it. The Hawks could have qualified Suter, but Suter believes he's worth (rumored) $750 - $1M more per year than Stan did. Ok go get it, we COULD send you to arbitration, but we won't be an obstacle. We're still here if you find otherwise. That's what the Euro transfers want. Life altering contracts because the Swiss league isn't providing those contracts.

While I understand your viewpoint on this, the beat writers are in agreement that it is damaging to his efforts. I don't see how it could ever be beneficial.

Suter IS worth 1 mil more than whatever bunk ass contract Bowman was offering, you know it was on the cheap. I don't care what the # is, you shouldn't just let the kid walk. It's just another example of ****house asset management.
