Retaining 5M and taking back a very inconsistent player at the wrong position who'll want a sizable raise next summer? Nah, highly, highly doubt it.

Looks like the offer has the Blues retaining 30% which I think is $2.25 million (I didn't confirm, but thought Tera AVg cap hit was 7.5)

Okay, then 4.5M. You get the idea.

Yeah I am not saying anything about the deal itself - I am not sure what the Blues believe the value is for Terasanko who requested a trade and who the left exposed at the expansion draft. I would have to believe they may be looking for draft capital or a younger asset with upside, but no idea. I wasn't sure if your view changed being a Blues fan knowing that blues are only retaining a smaller portion than you first thought. So many strange moves the last couple days its hard to figure out the direction of some teams and what they need.

1- Heh. Join the club.

2- People love to mention this, but it's entirely irrelevant. That was a strategic maneuver to hang onto Dunn that Army A) almost certainly knew wouldn;t actually work & B) if it did may well have allowed them to snare Landeskog from the Avs, which obviousy would have made the "free" loss of Tarasenko more than worth it.

3- Draft capital would be secondary, a young guy with upside much better. But whatever it was it had to end up with the Blues having something to help them now (whether that was Landeskog or some other trade target or a young guy with upside who already contributes). This was never going to be a pile of futures deal unless that pile was simply too mind-blowing to pass up.

4- Nah. It's a barely noticeable amount.

If / when the Blues trade Tarasenko, they will either do it to completely eliminate the salary or to get a piece for right now in return. The Blues are still in a window where they can win. They aren't thinking rebuild.
