You can certainly get more for Monahan than a singular 2nd round pick lmao, Sam Bennett got a bigger return than that.

Zary. Could swap him in for Pelletier depends on what the Sabres want

Monahan counts against the cap for 6.3mil for 2 years and is coming off 2 brutal years. The Flames are just looking to dump his cap if it means getting Eichel

If Calgary is willing to do that for Eichel, I say take him and end this mess.

Montreal will roll the dice on Monahan for that price though. Add a kicker if necessary.

He's only 26, isn't making an insane amount like a Jeff Skinner, has a solid history of being at the very least a decent player. He isn't what we were hoping as our future 1C, but he is absolutely capable of playing 2C. He hasn't been a complete bum the last 2 years either, the guy's been injury riddled and I by no means am giving him excuses here, I want him gone just as much as the next Flames fan especially if it means getting Eichel. But I think we would be better served sending him to Boston or even Montreal works as a team looking for a 2C for assets and flip those assets to Buffalo along with our own assets. A 2nd rounder is way too little for a potential 30 goal scoring, 60 pt center whos barely reached his prime years.

The problem with your theory is that he hasn't been a top six centre in 2 years. The last 2 seasons his point totals have fallen off a cliff and his underlying numbers are terrible. His value is at an all-time low now. I could care less what they get back for him if it means they get Eichel
