Devils aren't giving up a first to dump Subban

Devils are currently below the cap floor

Stecher is going to be on our bottom pair

No need to trade 2 2nds for him

I understand Stetcher on his own is not worth 2 seconds, but he would be your 4 guy, and upgrading and dropping 8m in cap space to allow for some other depth pieces sounds like its worth a little bit

Why? We're not even over the cap floor right now, and Subban is a UFA in a year. We don't need to drop salary, and we especially don't need to pay to do it. And Stetcher would not be our #4, he's not going to be above Hamilton, Graves, Severson, or Smith. So, no.

This would be nice and I would accept those trades in an instant. With the NJD trade I don's them as a playoff team in the up coming season and if they do make it it will be one and done. Since they have the cap space I don't see them giving up a 1st to move Subban.

I think Detroit is better off keeping Stecher until the TDL. Someone always wants defensive depth going in to the playoffs. Plus by then just about every team can afford especially if Detroit retains 50%. The contenders are going to be a lot more likely to give up pick and prospects. The same thing applies with Leddy.

That's how I see but i could be wrong.

Stetcher might be in the Red wings top 4, but he definitely wouldn't make the Devils top 4 ahead of Hamilton and Severson. Stetcher is a bottom pairing guy for us. Dropping 8M in salary for one year isn't important for the Devils. They rather keep Subban for the bottom pair
