Just can't see NJD giving up even that much at this point...not many avenues for STL. Maybe NYI? But then they need to find a home for money too. Maybe SEA? But who knows what's going on with them as they are making strange moves and IF they had had interest, why not take him over Dunn in expansion?

Hard pass.

You seem to say hard pass on everything involving Tarasenko so I'm just curious what type of return you think the Blues are actually going to get on him?

This seems like a lot for someone who’s shoulder is still a bit of an unknown at a high cap hit. There are also rumors coming out that Tatar will be signing with NJ so that leads me to believe that the price for Tarasenko is too high and they pivoted away from it. The price for Tarasenko would most likely have to drop for NJ to jump back in and take that salary

Most of what I saw was NJ was out of Tarasenko talks... Fitzgerald was going to "circle back" later in offseason. I take that to mean, when other options are gone (like Tatar) &/ or cost of acquisition has dropped.

At this point of offseason, Id guess second round pick and B prospect. Unless they retain, which opens up more options / destinations.

At that point, maybe they just hold on to him and squeeze him into submission. If he has a solid start to season, trade him mid season or before deadline.

Dunn was the smart move ... Im guessing Seattle knew there was a weak market for Tarasenko, so in pure flip scenario, Dunn > Tarasenko.

Well the exact trade I proposed above is a 2nd round pick and a B prospect (Bahl). I included Johnsson to take his salary back in return. Assuming Blues would prefer to not take Johnsson back and just have Bahl and the 2nd round pick. Also ate $1M on Tarasenko and threw in Clifford figuring the Metro division would be "beefing up" with how the Rangers are now going about things (Reeves, Blais, etc).

I would gladly just do Bahl and 2nd for Tarasenko (retain $1m). Now I don't run the Blues or Devils though - I just pretend to on this website....

Lol, none of us know $hit, but its still fun to speculate.

I suspect NJ believes in Bahl more than B, but they have plenty of guys like that to choose from. Maybe it works. NJ doesn't need retention, but maybe STL gets more elsewhere with it. Guess we will see.

That's not even close to being true. I've said accept to offers from fans of the Blues, plus NJ, CAR, NYR, BOS, LA, PITT, MTL and a few more I'm forgetting. Hell, even TML fans. And there's been many other offers I said were in the ballpark or worth considering. As for what he'll get, I have no idea. That may depend on when Army trades him. If he stays a little longer and scores goals, it will go higher.
