Holland is too stubborn to give in on a contract he signed like Kassian. What's gonna happen is Smith underperforms, making a starting/1A goalie a priority. We won't have money to keep Pulju after a breakout season with McDavid and Hyman and he's traded for an underwhelming return

I've learned to expect the worst from Ken Holland unfortunately

Hmm. As far as 2022/23 goes, goaltending and making room for burgeoning prospects are the issues that are of greatest concern for me. Actually, the latter might help resolve the former because eventually Holland is going to have to either make room for the prospects, or trade them for other assets that address team needs. I am sure fans will be in an uproar when some of those transactions take place, but the Oilers have defined their core for the next 4-5 years and spending the future to improve the present is how most teams win championships.
