Description
I have a gut feeling DD ends up on LTIR pretty quickly, if he doesnt then we probably dont make the Petterson trade.

Eric Staal and Bobby Ryan are veteran depth and traded at the deadline for some mid round picks. Koskinen trade is strictly for draft capital, we waive Turris and maybe hes claimed but i doubt it, and then Koskinen walks and end of season.

Veleno starts in AHL but hell get called up once a spot opens,

Sheahan is strictly AHL depth

As much as I would like to get something for taking on koskinen, I don't think Edmonton would do that. Greiss isn't that much of a significant upgrade and he's only 900K cheaper. Turris they can dump in the minors and only cost 550K against the cap.
I just hate the idea of getting Pettersson personally but alot of people like the idea of getting him for free or dirt cheap.

No thanks on Koskinen would rather keep Greiss, No thanks on Pettersson too much money and term. And Stecher would be a trade deadline deal not after season starts. I think DDK will be fine as long as he's given bottom pairing minutes only. Doubt he can handle top 4 minutes anymore.

I’d be happy to do a one for one swap but I’m not gonna add from Detroit’s side. I agree with you that they clear 2m this year and 4m for the next 3? Seems worth it for a 4th and a player to slot in the middle 6

I don’t see why this is a bad deal for Edmonton. They could waive Turris but I don’t think he gets claimed. So clearing 2.55m AND upgrading their goalie seems like a no brainer considering they aren’t even giving up a 1st.

Think of it this way. Greiss may not be elite but he’s a huge upgrade and the word out there is Edmonton is looking to sign Lundqvist? Like come on. There aren’t many options unless they make a deal from Dallas for Khudobin

Pens are fine right now. Our defense was great last year so why trade him and a pick for a guy were gonna have to put in the bottom 6 anyway? I know for a fact we can get more for Pettersson. This doesn't help. Our defense gets worse if we make this move.

You think it was Pettersson'd fault that he had a down year. Look around the league, Covid ruined lots of players years. Pettersson is still very young and has very good potential. When your 24 years old and have one down year, that doesn't mean hes worth a 4th round pick. He has alot of years to grow and improve. Especially when your on a team with Letang and Dumoulin.

This is not my judgement of Pettersson. I'm a fan of his, but it was well known Hextall tried to find a trade for him and couldn't. He was trying for a hockey trade, not a cap dump and couldn't make anything happen.

Edmonton could retain salary on Koskinen to make a Greiss trade work they wouldn't pay to unload turris or koskinen's contract which is why they were out on Kuemper.
