Created by: Islesforthecup
Team: 2021-22 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 16, 2021
Published: Aug. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kaprizov can't come to terms with Minnesota. From everything I've seen on this site, if Minny is trading Kaprizov they'd want futures to rebuild. More could be added if needed (Wilde, Holmstrom).

Lose him for nothing after *checks notes* three years? Oh, how funny...

The whole premise is that Kaprizov refuses to sign a long term deal and GMBG isn't willing to do a bridge. So instead of losing him to CSKA Moscow for nothing, he gets value in return but good try 🤡🤡🤡

Do you really believe he is going to Russia?🤡 That's just a bluff his agent tried to get a better deal, there's a salary cap in Russia, too, and CSKA is tightly pressed against it. The worst-case scenario for the Wild is Kaprizov signing for three years and walking on FA

Yeah, sure. It would be an amazing strategy to boast about illegal earnings in public. That surely wouldn't even further ruin KHL's reputation and make sure all the Europeans rather play in their respective countries' leagues

Everyone knows Petersburg and Moscow are forcing teams to trading their stars for pennies. Everybody also knows they are giving loads of money under the table. There's just no evidence and surely they wouldn't want a blabbermouth American hockey agent to ruin it

Or you know the reporter who covers wild saying wild are close to long term contract with kaprizov. Stop believing every agent leak you hear. My gosh people who aren't wild fans believing lies

The Islanders don't have the pieces to make a good Kaprizov deal.

I get it, I would be pretty upset too if Barzal publicly said he didn’t want to sign longterm on the Island. But Isles certainly have a LOT of good pieces to do a Kaprizov deal, he isn’t Connor McDavid ffs. We have Wahlstrom, Dobson, all the 1st rounders in upcoming drafts, Räty, Salo, Bolduc, Wilde, Holmström etc.

I hope Kaprizov will be a Wild for the long run, I have a soft spot for Minnesota as a swede, especially coming from the same city as Jonas Brodin and Joel Eriksson Ek and Marcus Johansson grew up in this city too playing for Färjestad BK. Though he’s off to Seattle. Wish you all the best and hope to see you guys in the finals.

Wahlstrom or Dobson aren't enticing as center pieces for Kaprizov, your 1sts and all of those prospects would be fine throw ins if you had a good center piece.

I also forgot about Beauvillier of course. But again I get it, but it’s hard to be realistic about your own team and favourite (star)players, I mean look at Eichel and the Sabres fans, if you would of asked a price 1 year ago for him as a captain and no rumours wanting out, they would of told you only McDavid, MacKinnon or Matthews had the same value as him, which probably are true, if he’s healthy of course. The perception of a player, team and leverage etc. changes fast. Once again, hope the situation solves before training camp and he signs atleast 4-5 years with you guys, you deserve it!

I'm not saying your pieces don't have value, relax, I'm saying we don't want to trade Kaprizov for any of them. Other teams have pieces we would trade Kaprizov for if it came to it.

I don’t believe I have to relax, I’m just trying to be objective about actual value contra what a supporters view of value tend to be - always higher than what it actually is. I understand that you rather want a Byfield or Zegras as a package in a potential deal, but hey, Jack Eichel doesn’t even bring one of those back… I simply don’t think that Guerin has that much of a leverage as Minnesota fans seems to believe. Seravalli talked earlier today about Kaprizov absolutely being serious with the KHL threat and playing there until FA or signing max 2 years with Wild. I mean, if it comes to that, Guerin simply has to trade him - otherwise it’s bad asset management.

I never said anything about a Byfield or Zegras, I just don't want Beauvillier or Wahlstrom. This is why you need to relax.

It is okay if a fan of another team doesn't want your pieces. You will survive.

Haha, I’m not trying to sell you Beau or Whally, my god. My point has been on general value not a specifik deal, just examples of players… but clearly this discussion is a no go with you. All the best.

Yeah because you seem to want to make it a point about value, which I never brought up one way or the other. It was never about value.

It absolutely was because I reacted to you writing that Isles didn’t have the pieces, that is an subjective opinion of yours, not the truth. Isles definitely have the value in pieces of trading for Kaprizov, even if you don’t prefer the fictional trade to be with the Isles.

No, you misunderstood "the Isles don't have the pieces" to mean "the Isles have nothing of value". That's your mistake.

Isles may have the value, but they don't have the right pieces. This is the exact same thing the other poster told you in the other thread.

No, I only reacted to what you wrote. You didn’t write ”isles have the value to trade for Kaprizov, but I don’t want any of them”, that I would have fully understood. You clearly stated that Isles didn’t have the pieces, which I thought was ignorant.

Correct, you don't have the pieces, as explained by the guy in the other thread as well.

Yes you did, because you thought I was referring to value, and for some reason, you still do.

Haha ok. So Isles don’t have the pieces to trade for Kaprizov, but the pieces equals fair value in a potential Kaprizov trade? Don’t you see that you just splitting hair and fighting for semantics which means the same thing?
