Best possible lines for the devils this season

I am not an AJ fan, but I'll buy stock in him at the very bottom...I don't expect a ton, but better than last year.

I do like that 3rd line otherwise. I just see Zetterlund or someone that throws the body to replace Bastian.

Also, no way Subban should EVER play PP over Smith or Hamilton....Subban's PP number are HORRID recently...

Not true, his power play numbers are low the past season because he got virtually no power play time. When he was the QB on the Top PP unit he was putting up a lot of points

Subban's WAR is 22%, his PP is 13(!)%. Hamilton is 86%!

Also, did you watch when Subban was on the PP, he was DREADFUL last year?

And in checking your point that he got "virtually no PP time", Subban averaged 2:02 minutes in TOI on the PP last season over the course of 31 games, meaning roughly 62 minutes of time.

Hamilton plays best with a defensive minded partner- Smith is not that guy. In addition to this, Smith and Severson were the teams best 5v5 pairing last season. Subban is the one who needs the reduced role, and he played well in one last season, having near positive underlying stats. FWIW, Corey Masisak, who covers the team for The Athletic, had the same pairing in today’s article that I commented.

Not about the points- Devils have Hamilton and Smith for the PP and offense. Need defensive reliability and some offensive prowess out of the third pair for balance. Subban is sub par at best defensively but can still provide a little offense. Perfect for the third pair.
