I hope the center core holds up and young defense. Definitely should be able to get to the playoffs. Future cap worries me, but the mandate from ownership is to contend and go for it.

Not sure what Morgan Rielly's value is, but I think the blues would want more in return to retain that much.

Also, I don't think Schneider beats out Lundkvist for 3RD

While the retention is a little high, Senko is no longer a premier player like he once was in his early to mid 20s.

I mean I know rangers fans are high on jones so it's hard since I know nothing of him. That's what's hard trading for prospects on here. At minimum this would be a trade but only happens (since no top4 dman coming back) if we know for a fact someone can step up in Rielly place. Reality it's a 1st and a top prospect/prospect leafs like and a 3rd/4th/5th pick as a baseline.

Value aside, that type of retention for more than one year requires a hefty return. It’s also clear that the Blues aren’t trading Tara for scraps or else they already would have. They’re going to showcase him and if he looks healthy and effective the offers will be there.

Schneider and Lundkvist are a toss up. I think Lundkvist is more ready, but we’ll see in a full training camp and maybe Schneider beats him out. Either way, the best player should win.

Othhmann could be a good player. If the retained salary is an issue, we could just add another pick.

I don’t think ownership cares if they’re contending unfortunately.

Zac Jones is a top prospect. He played in NHL this year and did very well.

You’d have to throw a first in just for the retention. Not sure how blues would value the actual trade outside of retention but I’d imagine they’re content waiting until TDL at this point to showcase Tara and if that happens and he proves he’s healthy that offer will be beat by multiple teams.

Agreed, the more competition the better. May the best man win.

But in my opinion, I think they're trying to duplicate the Fox-Lindgren line with Fox as the offensive ability and Lindgren with the stay-at-home defense. Therefore, Lundkvist-Nemeth

No one is offering more than a top-LD prospect and a 1st for one year of Morgan Reilly. Jones has the potential to be a top-pair d-man within a couple of years and along with Sandin would lock down one of the better top-four LDs in the league.

Is he? Maybe a bit more but this feels right if they were to trade him. Jones is a really good prospect who’s projecting as a top 4 guy with some offensive jam plus a first. For a rental that doesn’t seem way off, maybe another mid round pick but I doubt he’d get much more than that.

I also don’t think leafs should trade Rielly even if he walks since it’s unlikely they’ll be getting a top 4 d back in return and that just weakens them this year when they should be trying to contend.

I agree he has potential but i think the Blues prefer a guy they could play right away. Rumors have them interest in Mayfield from the islanders and he would probably be in their bottom 4

Why would you guys trade for Rielly? You have such good young D on the left side. You guys are just starting to come out of a rebuild. I say be patient.

Contender - 100% Favorite - probably

All the other top teams in the East got worse while we are getting better. Canes lost Hamilton. Lightning lost their whole 3rd line. Islanders lost Leddy and Eberle. Habs were a fluke. Only Colorado and Vegas to worry about.
