People: Canuck a can’t match offer sheet, do you know why? Because I’m so smart that I looked at the cap friendly page and saw the canucks have only 10 mil in cap space but decided not to dig any deeper and try to find out if they can match an offer sheet




Wel here it is for all of you folks

Maybe if you looked at the Canuck page, you see that they have 24 roster players when the max is 23. Adding Hughes and Pettersson, that’s 26 roster players. The canucks can send a bunch of guys down to the minors and don’t forget, Ferland is injured and is never gonna play again. That frees up even more cap space.


10 million dollar offer sheet match here
If Petterssons agent agrees to that, he’s basically forcing his own hand in the Hughes deal. Both sides now that whatever Pettersson gets, Hughes gets the remaining amount

That's still a terrible offer lmao 2 late firsts and b- Prospect Doesn't get a teams Captain that they have no interest in moving, Would you accept that offer for Suzuki?

everything is terrible today ... so i'm trolling the hell around cuz we are not thinking but reacting. 2 first fort Suzuki ... man we are going to take a 1st and a 3rd for kk wink !

I’m confused as to your logic in the description. You say if Petey accepts that deal, then it forces Hughes hands. How? He can just sit out if he wants more $.

They have the same agents, they’re going to pull a power move and really bend the nucks over. I don’t think an OS will happen, but I think that they’re going to maximize the leverage they have. Likely try and force the Canucks to give them both the deals they want.

Money is not the problem with the contract. They are trying to figure out a suitable term. He will get a good amount of money but they are just trying to find a term that is beneficial to the team and the player. Both players want to commit to Vancouver so I’m not sure why they’d do thst

If both guys want to commit to Vancouver, why is term the issue? If money isn’t the problem, and term is, wouldn’t that mean they didn’t want to commit? The way I view this, is that they’ll use all the leverage they have together to get the right deals. I’d imagine both guys want to get to UFA status as quick as possible to gain even more leverage.

To me it seems like they both want 5 year deals at a reasonable AAV. But why wouldn’t petey entertain an offersheet that’s like 10.2 million for 1 year? That just gives him more leverage next year with the new QO.

Because the Canucks can’t give both 8 year deals, if deals were done so easily then I’d think they would be done by now. Pettersson and Hughes are committed to Vancouver which means he isn’t taking a one year deal with some other team. The Canucks would match
