See this is my point about matching, you just gave up 3 roster players, a top D prospect, a decent C prospect, 2 1st rounders, a 2nd rounder and 2 3rd round picks for 2 middle 6 roster players. What a waste of assets.

the dvorak trade is a little heavy on the assets from Montreal but this makes your team very deep and talented. this is the type of team that wins cups. this would definitely be an all in for the cup move

It also leaves us with 0 1st round picks in a very very deep draft, one in which we host. Also Gallagher has as much value as Monahan so that would be a 1 for 1 and Evans and Poehling are good enough to fill the 3 and 4 holes anyway so Dvorak would be a moot point.

Edit** Also we are adding 10 Mil in cap to avoid paying KK 6 mil or trading for Eichel. Makes perfect sense.

Both Monahan and Dvorak are better than 3rd line forwards. Monahan is borderline 1st line so no you are not filling the same holes/roles with evans or poehling. also Gallagher is not comparable to Monahan. in roughly the same amount of games played over their careers Monahan has 439 points Gallagher has 357. and before you bring up monahans last 2 seasons he was injured for the majority of those seasons.

youare adding 10 mil in cap for 2 players instead of 1. sure you could go for eichel but that's not the point of AGM. in this scenario Eichel isn't going to Montreal

Like is said this would be an all in for the cup move. those types of moves typically involve trading away draft picks.

Gally's not gonna waive and that doesn't help Calgary. Replace Gally with Drouin and up the prospect a bit to like Ylonen. Then Flames can flip it to uffalo (along with other stuff) for Eichel

I think you misunderstand my comment about Evans and Poehling. I was saying they would fill the same hole/role as Dvorak not Monahan. I wasn't going to bring up the last 2 seasons and I like Monahan just Gally to Montreal has similar value. He drives the offense just not a player Montreal would give up.

Massive overpay for Monahan. Flames fans have wanted him gone for 2-3 years now. He's always hurt and even when healthy, he's such a soft player for his size. He had a few great years where everything he touched went into the net. That had more to do with Gaudreau being in his prime than Monny being a great finisher. Probably not the most popular opinion, but I wouldn't trade Gallagher for him 1 for 1. I prefer the guy who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.
