Given the nonsense that's already occurred between Montreal and Carolina, I don't think that the Canadiens will trade their own 2022 first or second. Read the fine print about what draft picks can be used to tender offer sheets.

The conditions are that the Coyotes get the higher of the two first round picks, which will likely be Montréal’s.* Also, which RFA that is currently available are the habs going to offer sheet with $1.3 million in cap space?

*Unless one of the picks is in the top 10, in which case Arizona gets the lower of the two picks.

With Weber on the LTIR, the Habs start off next season with $20 million in cap space and Suzuki and Romanov to sign, plus 6 more forwards. I think it's possible, but without their own 2022 first, they can't offer anything significant.

The 2022 1st wouldn’t be the compensation though. It would be the 2023 1st if they offer sheeted anyone next summer.
