My point was they don't have a bad contract but please tell me what I am saying without saying it. You're obviously so smart you can read minds. Let's hear it.

Marner’s contract stinks, JT’s isn’t great, and Ritchie’s is horrific.

His contract isn’t good. Who else on toronto would you replace him with?

Tavares pretty easily. Worse player, similar cap hit and older

I think he can be a fine depth player and the contract is small enough in the grand scheme of things that I don't hate it

Lol, total nonsense. This is just a Boston fan feeling great about the fact his players signed their deals before the market changed. Your team is old and when Pastrnak is FA he's going to get paid!!! Then you'll justify it somehow.

This has nothing to do with boston. I don’t really understand why you brought that up.

If toronto has all this talent, and all their contracts are great, why can’t they win?

They will, they just haven't had their time yet. Matthews is only 23. There are a lot of teams that have won that had to go through times like this. Tampa, Washington and St Louis had a lot of disappointment before they won. I would love to see Boston TO in round 1. It won't likely go your way without injuries swaying it all.

Ahhhh yes, the injury excuse. I’m sure toronto is the only team to ever deal with injuries. Again, why are you bringing boston into this?

Those teams you mentioned had at least some success. There’s something wrong with the core of the leafs, and part of it is that they’re overpaid.

Why Boston? Because you guys are so superior and it would be amazing to take Boston down in round 1 as a how do you do before a long run. I doubt TO gets a crack at Boston beyond round 1 anyways.

Holl and JT both have bad contracts , Muzzin and Brodie are old with 3 years left on their contracts - they can fall off a cliff at any moment

I think it’s more likely that maybe you’re a bit defensive because you aren’t very sure of yourself (or because you just don’t believe what you’re saying at all). Boston has no place in this conversation. You brought up how everyone’s contract is great in toronto, and i brought up how they’ve been an easy out. Boston hasn’t played the leafs in the playoffs in a long time. Not sure why you’re hung up on it.

Ritchie is a decent depth player, the problem is he has one of the worst penalty differentials in the league - he takes penalties at the worst times and kills momentum for his team. I wouldn’t give him more than league minimum

Nope, the discussion was bad contracts on TO. There are none. You point to Marner. And then said they can't win and I laughed because it's typical Boston Fan pining for the good old days thinking your team is still top shelf.

So the question remains, if they have all this talent, and no bad contracts, why haven’t they been able to win a single series? Or maybe the contracts aren’t as good as you think.

I have already answered that. They played the best team in the East in year one of the Matthews era and lost in 6. They played a top 7 team in Boston in year two and lost in 7. Then they should have beaten them in year 3 when Boston was the 4th best team in the league but really bad coaching cost them. Really, who on earth plays Matthews like a 3rd liner and gives a 38 year old Marleau more ice time in games 6 and 7 than Matthews? Then a best of 5 saw ridiculous goaltending knock them out. Bad luck. Montreal deserves credit they really were a decent team and very resilient. The Leafs should have won but didn't, no excuses. All of this and their best player is only 23. The best is still coming, their core is just entering its prime. Everyone should be very worried that they will put it all together. There isn't a player in the East currently as good as Matthews and he's going to get better yet. Marner, JT and Nylander as well are all going to have something to prove.

Okay so the logic here is they’re really good, and only lost because they played good teams? I feel like a good team might win one of those five series. Maybe they’re just not that good. Maybe it’s because most guys entering their prime aren’t overpaid.

You are just trying to bend my words to feel superior. I have said it clearly. They just haven't been ready yet. Their time is coming, just like it was for Ovie, or Kucherov or Pietrangelo. They all went through disappointment before winning. Matthews, Marner and Nylander are all way too good to not figure this out.

Idk about league minimum but yeah, he's as undisciplined as they come and that's a big, big problem

What success did Ovie have? Winning a round is playoff success? What did Kucherov have? Or Pietrangelo? Your argument is weak!

Presidents trophies, playoff round victories vs a big ole nothing.

Sure thing pal.

Ovie didn't win a playoff round in his first 10 seasons.
