Possibly but the return doesn’t matter. Not really the point of this agm. I just put his appropriate value in.

I'm game with Mikheyev playing there if he can actually earn/keep the spot.

He earned it all last season. You can’t really fault what he did on the ice. He was creating and driving play everywhere. Just unlucky. I think he is due for a big season.

Still don’t see them running a 21 man roster but out of the FWDs that always get traded, Engvall is most expendable.

I hate moving him. I love the way he glides through the neutral zone untouched. But someone has to go. Dubas denying a trade for Mikheyev means one of kerfoot Dermott or Engvall has to go.

That's one way to look at it.

For me it’s Kerfoot, trading him allows you to keep your depth and possibly add to it. And it’s not a hate on Kerfoot just as a winger the Leafs have options internally to replace what he brings. I would absolutely want some C addition to back up (Kampf/Brooks/Semyonov/Amadio) should Kerfoot get dealt but it always surprises me the hate on Engvall or Mikheyev. Would I like if they scored more, sure, but they both are incredible skaters, get in the forecheck, kill penalties, like what’s not to like. You need these guys to fill out a roster 🤷‍♂️

When the news came out about Mikheyev requesting a trade I was honestly pretty sad. I love the way he plays.
He’s so quick, creates so many chances, he PKs well and, before the wrist accident, was actually having a quite impressive year in terms of scoring.

I have a feeling he’s gonna have a big year. Maybe I’ll be wrong, but I’m sticking to that.

I hate to do it, because I do really like Engvall, but I think he’s most likely gone (or buried at least).
I wonder if Dermott will be gone too, maybe after we see what we have with Menell or a vet dman signing.

I totally agree even if he doesn't finish Tavares and Nylander should get tons of rebound chances. If I'm the leaf coach I'd tell him to shoot low if you miss there will be rebounds

From a cap standpoint kerfoot does make the most sense. Leafs do have kampf, Spezza Engvall who can all play a bottom 6 centre role. The issue would be top 6 centres if one goes down. I like nylander at centre in that situation but Keefe does not.

Yup, agreed. I give full props to Kerfoot, he played lights out when JT went down against MTL. Would love to see more of playoff Kerfoot in the regular season. He definitely elevated his game in the playoffs, something this team clearly lacks. But the numbers don’t add up and his 3.5 cap hit is savings this team needs and could help add to the roster. Not much left in FA (Bozak or Staal), would be awesome if they could add one of the young C’s from LA or ANA. Victor Rask is someone I’d like but need retention. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The hoops he went through to keep kerfoot makes it seem unlikely.

Don't forget Brooks should get a shot as well

I was just going with active roster players. I agree though. Brooks has a very good shot of making the team. Love his two way game.
