Gibson alone is worth more than Broberg, the first, the second and two thirds. What are we getting for Rakell?

When's the last time a goalie has gone for that much in a trade. Never mind the fact that we haven't seen gibson in front of a good team yet which also adds risk. He is also being paid 6 mil until he's 34.

You say the fact that Gibson's contract runs out at the same age as Vassilevkiy's or Lehner's is a bad thing. I think you misunderstand the value of fixing the goaltender position until after everyone else on the Pens except Marino has departed.

Darcy Kuemper, who can barely hold Gibson's stick, got an A prospect plus a first, and he is signed for one year.

Lehner and vasy have had better seasons recently hoisting around 915 save percentages compared to gibsons 900. kuemper was severely overpaid as colorado was desperate for a goalie at the time and kuemper has in fact been better than gibson the last two seasons while arguably being on a worse team last year.

My point in citing Lehner and Vassilevskiy was to point out the lack of merit in your implication that the length of Gibson's contract is a negative.

My point in citing Kuemper is that we're not talking about one year of Gibson vs. one year of Kuemper -- a fact you don't seem to comprehend. Time = value. You wouldn't pay the same for one year of John Marino as you would for six years of John Marino. John Gibson is no different.
