This is the year to win it probably

Description
In my opinion, this year is probably the best year for the hawks to at the very least go on a playoff run. Even if this team isn't championship caliber, we don't exactly have many reinforcements coming down the line, and I'm not sure when we are going to have a better chance than this year. I would say the Goaltending in fine, but we need a top LD as well as a decent enough top 6 RW. For the D I am once again targeting Lindholm, I would describe him as a very good number 2, and his two-way play could help Jones regain some form. As for the RW, I don't think the Pens will make the playoffs this year so it's possible they sell off assets at the deadline so they can retool in the offseason. I could be wrong, of course, but if Kapanen is expendable then they could sell high on his ridiculous shooting % from last year.
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Gaudette, Adam
  2. Strome, Dylan
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (TOR)
2.
CHI
  1. Lindholm, Hampus
Additional Details:
ANA could easily get a first in this deal from another team, but IMO this package of NHL-ready players (who project well) should beat any package with a late first in it. People on here really seem to value that though.

Let's also say Lindholm extension comes in at 6.5 million.
ANA
  1. Beaudin, Nicolas
  2. Connolly, Brett
  3. Mitchell, Ian
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
ANA gets the earlier pick of the two Chicago currently owns.
3.

ANA

Didn't they have the 2nd youngest tram in the NHL last year? I get the farm system isn't ranked that high, but when your "prospects" are in the NHL they're no longer in the farm system.

Make the Pittsburgh trade for Rust. He’s fit better with toews and kubalick.

Pens likely pass on that deal.

LOL Not likely happening unless the Pens are way out of the race at deadline and it's been made clear they won't be able to re-sign. Not to mention you'd have to really step up the return in that trade.

That’s fair points. I was more or less saying that kapenan doesn’t fit the role with toews as a first line.
Rust does.

The Blackhawks have middle-of-the-road prospects and in recent years have had a middle-of-the-road team. What I'm saying in this post is that if we suck this year, there's not much in the way of reinforcements to fill the holes this team has. We don't have any bonafide top-line/ Top D prospects, sure we have young bottom 6'ers but they can only go so far in making this team above average.

I guess what I'm saying is guys like Dach specifically were "prospects" for 2ish months. Drafted and tossed into the lineup. I'm not saying whether or not that was a right or wrong decision. I'm saying it's hard to say the Hawks don't have reinforcements when someone like Dach is still only 20 years old. He's top end IMO. Reichel COULD be too.

Maybe we're saying the same thing, but it's very hard to have a highly ranked farm system when you don't keep them as prospects.

I’m very low on the last two drafts, Reichel looks solid, but after him I don’t see a lot of upside in the prospect system. I understand it’s to early to judge the success of the hawks last couple of drafts but I don’t foresee anyone recently drafted ( outside of Reichel) making the team in the foreseeable future.

You are showing more faith in Reichel than I am.
I wouldn’t get too excited about him.
Let’s look at facts, best case scenario- he’s another Teuvo. He’s turning out good for Carolina but not great. He’s not going to help win a cup. That’s all I’m interested in is getting back into cup contention and the players they having coming up will do that. To quote the late great Tom Callahan - “in auto parts you’re either growing or you’re dying”.
Same applies here- lol
I don’t see them growing with these prospects so you might as well be dying….
