i can understand the logic that Caufield is on the third line to protect him. But this is MTL after what the fan base just witnessed it will be all eyes on Caulfield regardless of where he slots in the lineup so idk if that will actually do much to solve that problem. What this will do though is have the media unleashing on management the moment this roster has a few low scoreing affairs and everyone will be demanding Caulfield and Suzuki be reunited.
I do disagree that theres two main scoring threats. Caufield is going to be the best goal scorer on the team in the future but i dont think that happens this year, but Toffoli Gallagher and Hoffman all have the ability to hit the 30 goal mark so there will be balance in the offence either way. As is that third line scares me defensively Caufield and Drouin struggle in their own end and can be overpowered easily in one on one battles, combine that with Poehling trying to get some games under his belt and still growing as a player and i think thats too much of a risk given the depth the habs had. I would either move caufield off that line, or swap poehling and evans which would lower the offensive potential but brings more defensive responsibility.
