Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 23, 2021
Published: Sep. 23, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Feel like Archie could get buried so he would not be a distraction to the team, I understand Tipp likes the guy in the role he does, but I am sure he'd prefer the focus be on the team not an Anti-Vaxxer...
I also see big Kass playing up in the lineup a bit more ala the year he signed his extension and having a bounce back year- see 15 tucks, and 40ish points while being a big prick to play against..
More possibly a pipe dream/idea, but come the deadline should Sorokin play unreal and takeover the No 1 job, Varly may look to waive his NTC and be the No 1 in Edmonton the rest of this contract, Isles still get a solid backup, and a high pick...

Value is actually probably fine for Varly but Isles won't move him until next summer at the earliest. Keep the group together for a cup run

If you want to do that next off-season then yes. Can't make that deal now.

Mikko contract is done at the end of this year. So we will not have to worry about getting rid of him.

If the deal waits until summer, the pick probably isn't going to be a 1st anymore. (a) there's not as much value for the Oilers since they have him for just 1 playoffs vs 2 if a deadline deal, (b) Koskinen isn't part of the deal so 100% of the cap is going in Edmonton's direction and that has a cost, and (c) there are UFA goalies available in the summer who are competing for the Edmonton starter job.

So it's a question of how well Sorokin is playing by the deadline and what sort of return NYI wants. They may not do this deal, but they have to know that the same deal won't be available to them in the offseason.

I wish this would happen
it would take the Oilers from questionable Cup contenders to serious contenders

I'd keep Varly and take a lesser deal. 2 seconds is my guess. Or a 2nd and ok prospect
