Description

These trades all happen on deadline day, and I only wanted to trade for rentals.
Pens trade: This trade likely only happens if the pens are not close to making the playoffs, I know DeSmith has issues in his personal life but his on-ice play is solid and definitely an upgrade for the oilers
Sabres trade: mid szn cap dump won't cost much as the sabres are just getting a free pick
Wings trade: Oilers add a vet defenceman who can play big minutes in hope of a deep playoff push
Yotes trade: Oilers strengthen their 3rd line

Detroit insanely passes, You're not getting Leddy at 50% off for a career AHLer and a 5th and 3rd round pick that's still 2 and 3 years away respectively.

Don't listen to those other Pens fans. DeSmith getting moved is very realistic based on two factors:

1) If the Pens are out of the race come the deadline.
2) Lindberg shows he's ready for NHL duty.

The Pens definitely take the 3rd. The prospect? I don't even know you need to add one, but if you had to, I'd think the Pens would want something else, but nothing major.

Pens need to recoup futures and a 3rd for DeSmith is a great deal for the Pens. A prospect is basically a throw-in.

EDIT: The Pens are likely to lose their 2023 3rd pick given the conditional criteria in the Carter trade.
