What are you even talking about? Everything you just said makes absolutely zero sense.
"Anyone can look good according to analytics"? ......That might be the stupidest thing I've heard in awhile.
"Not a shutdown Dman, never scored more than 20pts in a season"? .......That's exactly what he is though, a
SHUTDOWN DMAN. My brain hurts from the stupidity. Please research before talking absolute nonsense. He's top-10 maybe even 5 defensive defensemen in the league, by far.
Here's a Canucks article talking about him: http://thecanuckway.com/2017/01/17/canucks-analytics-chris-tanev-corsi/
So you say article from a canuck sports page shows Tanev has good corsi in 2017. However his lack of games played due to never being able to stay healthy can skew corsi numbers becuase he isn't there a full 82 season. or in this case even a 60 game season. and per your article here is a quote for his play this season.
"So far this season, Tanev has been the Canucks’ second-worst Corsi player, with a Corsi-for percentage of 46.6. Only Luca Sbisa is a tad worse, coming in at 46.5.So far this season, Tanev has been the Canucks’ second-worst Corsi player, with a Corsi-for percentage of 46.6. Only Luca Sbisa is a tad worse, coming in at 46.5."
here is another quote:" But, shot rates improve almost everywhere in the offensive zone with Tanev on the
bench. Especially the increase of shot attempts from the crease and slot area are worth mentioning. "
So Tanev is the 2nd worst corsi player on the tream this season and the Cannucks seem to play better when he is on the bench. The article also mentions that for most of the prior 3 seasons he played with either Alex Elder or Dan Hamhuis both of which are players that probably helped his corsi numbers. That's why I said analytics can make anyone look good. They don't take into account your linemates, defensive pairing ect. Mediocore players can ride shotgun with a crosby or toews caliber player and look better because of it on paper.
Thanks for giving me the article that makes your argument irrevelant. And notice I didn't have to call you stupid to make a point. Also this article was written when Tanev had only played 20 games so once again a top 5 shutdown defenseman that can't play more than 60 games in a season is laughable.
