Detroit does not now, nor ever, want Byron at any cost. You would have to pay us handsomely to take his contract off your books.

if he keeps on showing that he's a good fourth liner with great leadership you could retain half his salary for a higher pick on next draft. i do think that teams like tampa, colorado and etc would like to have him during the playoffs because he can play in every situation.

    "After they trade Gibson".

*If* the Ducks moved Gibson, it would be because they think they're 3-4 years away. Considering that, there'd be a near-zero chance that they'd have any interest in moving picks for a goaltender that was below league average in 3 of the past 4 season. Yes, I get that it's a 3rd, but there'd really be no point in doing anything more than the Arizona/Buffalo model of just running out a couple of scrubs.

All that being said, the Ducks rebuild is going pretty smoothly at this point, and there'd be no point in trading Gibson unless it were for an absolute overpay (Which likely isn't out there at this point).

i do think that someone will be ready to overpay for gibson. and because he's not a real first goalie allen is perfect for the ducks because he'll let their young goalie grow a little bit protected while still having the chance to be the first goalie if they play well.
