Crazy to think Giroux takes that. Pavelski signed a 3 x 7 with Dallas. I’d expect Giroux to ask for at least 3 x 6

Maybe wishful thinking but you never know, Pavelski had no prior connection to Dallas, Giroux grew up and played here.

Still, he’s a 60pt player right now. That’s worth way more than 4 mill.

Oh for sure, $4 mil would be a big discount if he signed it.

Yeah but veteran players approaching retirement are a different beast. Look at Spezza for example, 3 years in a row that he plays in hometown Toronto for league minimum (and yet they can't buy a round win)

That'd be nice if the Sens could round out their lineup like that during contending years...

Yeah but Spezza signed a 3x7 or something like that with Dallas before his series of league min contracts with the Leafs. I think that would be the comparable for Giroux. I’d still do it though, adding a veteran to the top 6, especially a guy like Giroux that can be a mentor to Pinto and Stutzle (he’s always had a high skill game as a great playmaker, and is a right shot faceoff ace). I wouldn’t mind bringing in Hertl either, although that’s more of a long term, big money commitment (wouldn’t be surprised if he got the Hamilton contract, but he’d solidify our forward depth for sure).

Yes but Dallas "meant nothing" to Spezza so it depends how much Claude Giroux would want to help his hometown team...
