Yamamoto has done nothing to earn a contract more than 1.5 million and in fact I don’t see him as a top 6 player in a couple years. You would also hope that Puljujarvi’s contract starts with a five. I don’t put him at a higher level than Zach Hyman right now and he still has 2 RFA years which would be used to mortgage things down. Trading away Kassian would be stupid move considering how well that line is doing right now and how well their style fits the playoffs. McLeod didn’t even crack the roster this year what is with the huge pay bump? You have McLeod earning more than Derek Ryan and jj Khaira before they said they wouldn’t pay him anymore than about 950k. Smith is not going anywhere and putting Konovalov on the team before skinner is not well thought out, neither is bringing up Broberg till he is about 22 years old. Dimo samorukov will be on Edmonton’s roster as LD before Broberg is.

Pretty much all the same thoughts I had. Far and away the biggest hole on this roster is that goalie situation.

Yamo is pointless through 5 games while the Oilers are 5-0 with 6 forwards averaging a point per game. That in no way gets you a nice new contract. JP likely looking at Hyman/Nuge money... might go shorter on term to take advantage of projected cap increases in a few years.

What hasn’t he done? He’s unlocked both top lines and will be about a 50 point player this year. You lock those guys down while they are RFAs because as time goes on the cap goes up and when they get to be a UFA you don’t know if you can afford them.
