Can't afford an extension after that Nurse contract. Realistically can't take Rielly even as a rental without 50% retained and/or finding a new home for Barrie.

They have Nurse at $9m next season -- why bother with Reilly? And it's basically impossible to re-sign him anyway. EDM is the wrong team here.

No to the Rielly trade. No $ for extension and not enough for him as a rental. We got our D figured out and Yamo is a top 6 player for us, who draws lots of penalties and is the best pocket picker in the league if not that then top 3.

To be fair, you probably haven't seen much of Yamo play this year. Effort is there but he's not the promising player he looked like 2 years ago though. I think he does get traded at some point during the year but likely in a package for another middle six type winger with more size for the playoffs.

It goes back to last year as well. Last year I thought the lack of production was just bad luck but now seeing the trend start again this year I'm beginning to lean that it's more so the player himself and the rookie year was the anomaly. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy... the effort is there, he kills penalties, and he rarely costs the team while playing at a low AAV. Just think the Oilers will look into moving him for an upgrade in the top 6 in terms of points/size if pucks don't start going in at some point.

Minnesota doesn't need a 4th line c and a player who at this age is getting run @ winger. Leafs fans, or certain ones, other teams aren't paying to take on your bad players

Problem with oilers trade is Reilly isn’t the type of d we could use. We have Barrie and Bouchard for offence from the blueline but don’t have a true shutdown guy. I’d be ok with paying that price if Reilly was that type of guy.
