I can't see us trading Lindholm and Steel and not getting a 2022 first.

Montreal can't trade the 22 1st until the draft order is set, hence the reason for the 23 1st lol

Wanting Shane Wright, Matthew Savoie, Brad Lambert or someone else who is elite is a lot to ask for a rental d man and a unproven centre prospect

Steel is hardly unproven center prospect, you could argue a 3C but he has played 4 years in the NHL. That said, you are right that is a lot for a 3C and rental D

By definition, Montreal's remaining first can't be higher than #11.

Oh, wait a minute, if it's a top ten, Montreal gets to keep it, and it could turn into Shane Wright. Spoke too soon!

You don't think that Anaheim could accept the conditions on the other first and take the leftover?

Yes that is why the draft order has to be set lol

And my main point was that I think we'd go elsewhere, for that reason.

No doubt but the package is pretty significant and likely you won't get a better one for Lindholm and Steel even in separate trades. Norlinder + Lehkonen + 1st (even a year later) for Lindholm is a solid package and Tuch and Chiarot for a 3C is a slight overpay. I could have probably gotten away with just adding Tuch 1 for 1 but we needed to move salary and Chiatot's deal is expiring so he makes sense on both sides. I don't know many teams that are going to be near the middle of the draft that will offer a 22 1st + top D prospect + a middle 6 forward.

In isolation it's certainly a reasonable package for those two players, but with specific application to Anaheim, I can't view it with anything more than lukewarm sentiment. Norlinder and the first for Lindholm without any retention is fair, but Lehkonen and Tuch are surplus to our needs, and Chiarot would be only a temporary stopgap at LD.
