Initial Creation Date: Oct. 29, 2021
Published: Oct. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic

LA isn't that desperate. They're not going to give up one of their quality young players for a bottom pairing defenseman that will be on the wrong side of 30 in a couple months.

Lemieux for Holl? Maybe.

I doubt that. The reason I said Kempe is because of the market. A bottom pairing rhd-man for less than 2.5 million is hard to come by rn. Y’all can’t afford anything past 2 million either due to cap constraints. I agree Lemieux for Holl might be better deal in a real world but the market doesn’t agree with that.

What about Holl + conditional 2023 4th for Kempe?

The condition is if the Leafs makes it past the 2nd round it will become a 2023 3rd.

Adding Kempe would be awesome, but TOR needs to add to that deal. I can't see Dubas taking a L on Ritchie after just signing him. In the offseason maybe.

Draft picks are not useful to LA. A mid-round 2023 pick won't help them for 5+ years.

There's no situation where a Kempe for Holl trade will work. They might consider Kempe for Liljegren.

Otherwise the Kings will just use Strand and Clague for 6-8 weeks until Doughty returns.

I don’t think they do. Here’s my reasoning. The Dman market is messed up. Shoutout to Edmonton and Vancouver for signing Ceci and Tucker Poolman with absurd contracts. LA needs depth for 2 million or less. Holl fits the need and not many are available on the market. Maybe Toronto adds a conditional 4th

I hear, I guess if I am LA and Demers is just sitting there, maybe I go look at him. Or a Kempe for Manson type deal. But again, if Dubas could pull that off sign me up

Be my guest and use those guys but Liljgren is Kempe plus a prospect. Hard to find and develop young RHD. Wingers have far less value than RHD. Holl + 4th for Kempe is fair but it’s up to LA. By not making the trade they hurt thier chances significantly to make the playoffs

RHD are extremely valuable. I mean Denis Savard was a 1st rounder last year and Manson is gonna be Kempe + more maybe even a a 2nd. We are forgetting here LA has zero leverage in these negotiations due to injuries. Even if LA got Manson Anaheim would need to retain half as they’ll be over the cap.

Correct me if I am wrong but Walker is out for the season and Doughty is out eight weeks or something. With Kempe moved and Walker on LTIR there's you space

The most likely thing that will happen is that the Sabres will waive Christian Wolanin once Mattias Samuelsson is activated in a few days. LA will get first crack at him since they lost him on waivers to Buffalo a few weeks ago. They're not as desperate as you make them out to be.

Walker is the entire year. Doughty is 8-10 weeks.

Any team that lost its 2 RHD in its top 4 due to injury for more than 8 weeks are desperate to replace depth.

There are better depth options around the league than Holl that will cost significantly less than Kempe. They will replace Doughty and Walker with Wolanin and Strand. Clague and Maatta are also available if they need them.
