Immediately flip Monahan where

Created by: AudioCats
Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 3, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sure if there's an interest for Vegas, but I get the feeling it's a low price to pay for healthy, talented bodies when their season is on the line. Cap also works.

Washington was one destination in mind for Smith, I'm sure there's others. My price would be a second and a neutral cap dump.

I don't understand the theory behind acquiring Monahan and then flipping him. He's only under contract for one more year, so I would think it would be better to keep him as one of your top 2 centers while Cozens, Mittelstadt and Thompson develop.

That's interesting. WSH has cap space for that. If they have prospects who can fill Hagelin's spot on the checking line, or if Oshie is going to be out for a while, they could be into it. I mean, the pick seems high based on how awesome I think Hagelin is, but what do I know?

Because I'd think he would be considered a major part of the value of the trade to get Eichel. And he's a UFA so we need to trade him to get value I'd assume. Instead do letting him walk.

But he doesn't walk until 2023.

Ah, well I missed that. Only other reason is that he has a M-NTC not sure if they can update those every start of year but if so buffalo probably is on his 10 team list. So he would have to be flipped for him to waive or the trade to work.
