Description
The Duchene trade happens at the 2017 draft. Avs get close to their asking price but sweeten the pot with a high 2nd round pick in 2018. We can just assume that the Avs will finish with a top 10 pick in 2018. Varly gets nabbed in the expansion draft which leaves Pickard as the #1 guy. If the Avs get lucky and are able to sign a couple good free agents in 2018, the playoffs are not too far away. The Avs could really use some veteran help behind the bench and in the front office.

"It can only get better from here". Well eventually but maybe not for a few years. With such a choice of goalies and a salary cap too, Varlamov at 5.9m is not likely to be claimed by Vegas. And Slavin is arguably the best Canes Dman. Two years of Duchene at 6m isn't that appealing to Carolina.

you really need to give it a rest already, all you do is crap on the Avs trades saying Duchene and Laneskog are over rated and talk crap since they aren't "the leafs".

This is not in response to this trade but just in general, you have become a Troll

Carolina makes the most sense for a Duchene trade because of their surplus of young D and the Canes need for a #1 Center. So who's it gonna be Canes fans??? Slavin? Hanifin? Faulk? Pesce? Please tell me.

Did i see Slavin, Terravainen, and a 1st for Duchene and a 2nd????

A Number 1 Defenseman on the average NHL team at 22 Years old
A young forward who's been scoring and playing good defensively too
Very, very, very high pick, possibly 1st overall

      For

a forward who doesn't have any points in his last 11 games
a pretty good pick, though not in the best draft

      CAR says no.

Ah yes, thats how you describe duchene, just his past 11 games when the Avs have been a complete train wreck all season. Yup that dictacts his value.
Not saying that the trade is fair (I agree the Car 1st is too much without knowing where they are drafting)

But commenting on an Avs teams roster and saying Duchene is just a fwd in a 11 game slump....thats pathetic man, be better

As a Canes fan, I'd say right now Slavin is untouchable, and Pesce is close to it. Hanifin is very unlikely, so that leaves us with Faulk. I still doubt that we would trade him in a Duchene deal unless it was straight up (which the Avs wouldn't go for).

I think the most likely scenario of a Duchene to Carolina trade would be if Sakic gets fired and the new GM goes for a full rebuild. There he could get two of Bean, Fleury, and McKeown alongside a combo of our plethora of 2nd and 3rd rounders, with maybe Bigras coming Carolina's way to even the numbers (I don't know a ton about him and how Avs fans value him).
