So Broberg with 0 NHL experience and a 2nd round pick for Sergachev and a 6th round pick. You grossly overvalue Broberg big time. Albert Johansson has better numbers in the SHL then Broberg.

Sergachev will only have 1 year left and his QO is 7.2m after next year. He has offensive upside but can be a liability in his own end and has become a bit of a hot head. Tampa would probably ask for someone better but at the same time they get a decent prospect that can be serviceable in 1-2 years and a 2nd in a deep draft. as the basis of a trade it would start with a young dman+

The exact reason I suspect you are making this deal is why the oil would probably say no. It’s all about the money.

Zero questions asked, Sergachev is way more established and valuable. But Oilers can’t afford him at $9M+ he’s gonna need in his next deal. Just can’t. Oilers would be better off continuing to develop Broberg and hope he can become an impact, top 4 guy while the Oilers compete for the cup.

In a vacuum, I know it ridiculous to say no to a deal like this, but it’s just how the NHL is now. Fleury got moved for nothing as the reigning Vezina winner. The cap has completely changed what we see as value now.

Broberg isnt in the SHL and he is following the path of Klefbomb. But yes its a bad deal IMO

Oilers decline they need Broberg and his entry level contract no cap to add a 7 plus mil D
