Leafs spent a lot of cap during the offseason on guys like Mrazek, Holl and Ritchie which were all for the right idea, just didn't work out.

I think Lafreniere is due for a breakout. His on-ice results are really good and his individual contributions are at a similar rate compared to other top playmaking wingers:

Chicago has no use for a 3rd line LHD man. Stillman, Kalynuk, Caleb Jones, Beaudin already are battling it out for that spot. I don't think Dermott is a clear upgrade over any of those guys and Strome has more value. Now with our coach gone, we should see Strome return to proper ice time.

First of all, you called Steeves a "top C prospect" and he is nothing of the sort. He's not even an A prospect. Hirvonen is a better prospect, but also quite small and just an average skater. Most scouting analysts think he'll be pushed to the wing when he hits North America. Either way, the consensus on his ceiling is that of a middle 6'er. Long story short, neither of those players is a "top" or even high profile C prospect.

Because between Holl, lillypad and Dermott, he's probably the best one but that's not saying a lot even though Lillypad has more upside.

Hahaha what??? Laffy was 1 OA last summer. Hirvonen was 59th, Steeves went undrafted.
