What do you mean the Rangers need goal scoring? Outside of the two CGY games where they got absolutely spanked, they're scoring just fine... 3 goals vs NSH and OTT, 4 goals vs CBJ, 3 goals vs SEA, 5 goals vs EDM... Pajunemi has 2 goals in 10 games in the AHL. You make it seem like he's Ovechkin down there
The Rangers need their slumping players to break out of it, and especially Kakko to get off the 2nd line since he's contributing to that line not producing. Goodrow is never going to play on the 4th line despite how many armchairs think that's where he belongs. This isn't "the answer"...
Those scores aren’t giving you the whole picture, not to mention the fact that NSH and SEA had EN goals. Offense has been woeful all season thus far and about half of our wins are solely due to Igor Shesterkin.
Entering today, the Rangers were
- 28th in Corsi For %
- 29th in Fenwick For %
- 31st in Shots For %
- 28th in Expected Goals %
Moreover, if you’re not an analytics guy, just look at the total shots on goal the Rangers accumulated in our games. They’re dreadful numbers.
To your point however, I completely agree that it starts with a lineup change especially regarding Kakko in particular. And the only PPG players in Hartford are Jonny Brodzinski and Anthony Greco, two players who aren’t going to change anything.
