Dallas doesn't need a cap dump for a guy that is remaining on LTIR. If Bishop comes off of LTIR, Dallas has other options like moving Khudobin that they would consider before trading away Dellandrea. Zero chance Dallas pays in picks/prospects to move Bishop.

I could see them trading a prospect to help move Bishop (once off IR), though the prospect / picks in return needs to be better than a 21 year old 7th round pick. And your nuts if you think they'd have an easy time moving Khubodin to a competitor with another $3+ mil contract year remaining. He's not really a solid back up option anymore.

Dallas doesn't have to move him to a competitor. Add a 3rd or 4th round pick to the deal & you can trade him to anyone that has the cap space. Pay a mid round pick to trade Khudobin >>> Pay a good prospect to trade Bishop. Teams like Buffalo & Arizona are in full on pick-acquirement mode right now, have a ton of cap space to take on Khudobin's $3.3M cap hit, don't have a goalie under contract past this season, and aren't in any position to actually be competitive in the short-term future.

Not a direct competitor, I was meaning a team competing for the cup. BUF and ARI aren't taking on a guy like that along with a mid range pick. And Khudobin isn't going to waive to go to a hole like BUF or ARI.

I'm saying that Dallas doesn't have to restrict trade negotiations to cup competitors. It's not like Khudobin has a full NMC & will only waive for a cup competitor. Khudobin only has a 4-team no trade list. Not a huge hurdle if Dallas wants to trade him. All they have to do is find a team willing to take on his $3.3M cap hit and recoup a pick in the process. There are more than 4 teams out there that either A) need a backup goalie or B) are in full rebuild mode, so they are in a spot where they can take Khudobin if it means getting a pick in the process.

Can't see why Sakic would be interested in trading away Girard. Sakic never trades his 1st round pick especially for Kessel..
