Not a Arizona rebuild where every player is traded and we ice an ECHL team for a year or two but a major retool is coming. Habs are not a playoff team even with Monahan and Sanheim so whats the point?

-They're too bad to trade picks away for ready now talent.
-They have too many contracts for long term to sign any major name players with big cap.
-They're so bad that swapping Monahan and Sanheim for Toffoli and Armia won't make the difference needed.

When this happens there is only one thing to do, SELL and start over. Not a full selloff of course, but a good portion of them. Habs won't be good next year either. There is nothing they can do to make them better next year. So you build through the draft and prospects. Not more high priced contracts.

yea until bergevin runs out of free passes i dont think the habs will rebuild. i could see him getting desperate to keep his job.

i don't think armia or lehky are worth a 3rd. unless armia starts putting up points you'd have to pay someone to take him.

I don't agree. A number 2 center and a puck moving D are huge needs right now, we'd be better with them (and with price and other injured players back too obviously)

i dont think NYI want chairot, we would need to ratian to make it work and they are not gonna give up a 1st regardless of what savard's return was

at most i see NYI paying a 3rd for Kulak 50% retained.

I agree with you, they are huge needs. Im simply saying those two guys will not turn this team from worst into the league to playoff team. That is the problem. The team is flawed. If it wasn't flawed, they wouldn't be as bad as they are this year. If they were 18-20th I would say fine but Habs are on pace for one of the worst seasons in Habs history.

We don't just need Monahan and Sanheim. We need Barkov and Makar. Its not feasible.
